Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Does the removal of lingerie outfits from Fatal Frame in the West annoy you at all?

It may be annoying to some but it was smart move on Nintendo's part. One of the characters is listed as 17, and is the Gavure Idol. And that is below age in a lot of countries. And before someone say it's just underwear, in the US they use to have all ages of underwear models until the laws changed and publishers got into trouble for having children in underwear. So they removed them. I think the matter was litigation and not being arrested for pedophilia, they didn't want people suing them.

So it more of something to legally protect themselves from having litigation brought up because of it, so the problem is more of the laws of said countries instead of Nintendo unilaterally deciding to censor something just for the kicks.

Has anyone here went to the eshop? You guys do know there is a dlc button, which wouldn't be there if there wasn't dlc.... Just saying.

backlash would have been bigger if it was still in it.. now only us the nerds are complaining... but otherwise it was a billion people more..

I was thinking the same thing, but isn't the demo sometimes also put under DLC?

When they're trying to find a wider audience for Fatal Frame they don't want to draw unwanted attention to the game just for the costumes .  They do not want the risqué costumes to become peoples sole focus, and putting it as separate and optional DLC would be a good answer to that.

BAYO 2 doesn't have a dlc button, only a download demo button.

That's not remotely necessary for a 17 year old character. And even if it was simply changing the text to an higher age would be enough, as some games have done when coming to the west. To appease the prudes.

Doesn't matter to me, in fact it helps me as far as the purchase as there is less to explain if I am playing the game with mixed company.

If the girls are supposed to be less than 18 years old i do infact understand why they removed it

What annoys me is seeing how low this franchise has become. Who is responsible for this crap??? Must be Fucking Nintendo since I don't see this series of other platforms anymore. They were so good on the xbox/ps2.
