Hm, the mobile market in Japan is a force to be reckoned with. From Sony's point of view it's like this:

I don't think Dragon Quest XI is enough. If 3DS can't win over mobile with Monster Hunter/DQ/Pokemon/Youkai Watch then Sony can't win with just Dragon Quest XI.

Not possible without making a new handheld.

The thing is, users on our forum are too self focused, to act like Mobile isn't winning in Japan. Let alone act like 3DS also blows the rest out of the water. They act like PS4 selling 7 million and Wii U selling 3 million would mean Sony reclaimed Japan. (Not using actual lifetime estimates or real numbers just giving an example of the users).

Because they totally launched at the same time, right?

The Wii-U only sold more because of xenoblade and splatoon, imagine how sparsley the sales are going to be after both games when there is a huge drought coming soon? Playstation has always a new japanese game releasing every month and some wester localisation.
And the fact is that nintendo maybe sold more hardware so far but current software sales are showing that playstation users are buying more games, its more than double than nintendo games are selling (it was even more a lot of times weeks prior).

Japajese sofware sales nintendo 220k, sony 560k. 

Alot of japanese games dont need more hardware power yet so the games are released with ps3 in mind still

they thought ps4 is like ps2 reincarnation but the truth it sold worse than ps3 at the same level of dreamcast lol

The thing is, would beating the Wii U be enough to say Sony reclaimed Japan. The thing is gaming market, and what it means isn't just home consoles, or handhelds. It is a whole environment.

Um...and the same can be said about the PS4 earlier this year "It only sold more because of Bloodborne, Dragon Quest Heroes and Yakuza." That's a stupid point because it goes without saying that systems sell because of games.

I assure you that this year will not be much different. You're not looking at the big picture. One week to a few months says nothing; an entire year does.

Wii U after 70 week: 1.7 million

PS4 after 70 week: 1.5 million

Seriusly, stop. Accept that the PS4 is selling worse than the Wii U.
