Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is now the worst time to be a Nintendo console owner?

I don't remember ever feeling that way about Nintendo consoles as there is always something to play and something to look foreword too

I'm having a splatastic time with Splatoon and waiting for Yoshi's Woolly world this Friday

Nope. My WiiU is still played almost daily and Splatoon is the best game out right now on any platform.

Nintendo 64.

Games retailed at $70, similar lack of third party (quality) support, and at the same time you were missing out on all the amazing titles on PS1. In many cases sequels to franchises you were used to getting on SNES.

I disagree as a RPG and fighting game fan, the N64 was awful.

But if you liked FPS, party games and sports it is one of Nintendo's top 3 best home consoles. Prices did indeed too much but man, but outside of some of the early droughts where all you had to play was Super Mario 64 or maybe Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, the N64 for a NA player such as myself while not the same level of classic single player experiences was always great at parties and gatherings.

Bottom line: no, not by a long shot.
But 2016 might be.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

It depends. If you were a rpg player, then the N64 was the worst period. The only worthwhile rpg was Ogre Battle 64.

Yes, the N64 was when third party support really went away for Nintendo.  There was the decision to go with expensive, low storage cartridges when the PlayStation used CDs,  higher licensing fees on the N64, and the way their relationship with SquareSoft just fell apart.  It was a perfect storm for Nintendo and the damage remains to this day.

Paper Mario was pretty good though.

I grew up loving NES! 86-03 was amazing! Then Wii came along and ruined Nintendo for me forever. Wii-U only solidified it for me. No 3rd party support their 3 awesome big 1st party games never come out. Mario does, but Metroid & Zelda takes way too long to show up! I also grew up loving Atari, SEGA, PlayStation. Only PlayStation has kept my interest from the PSX in 95-PS4 in 2015 with tons of great games 1st & 3rd party. The best hardware & doing what the fans want/ask for. I love the way PS comes out with new IP exclusives every year & giving us sequels of the 1st party games we have come to love. Now they came out with PS Now that gives us the chance to play games we might have missed out on. One day will have every PSX, PS2, PS3 games on there. The Apps & Media Center rox too! Finally can watch movies/listen to music I have stored on thumbdrives or HDD's in a usb enclosure. Nintendo still from time to time has a few games worth while, but too far and few between imo. NES has not grown up with their audience imo like PS has. To make a long story shorter, I was a huge Nintendi fan, but have not been for a decade+ now. The GameCube was the last great console from them imo, and it did not even sell very sell. Idc about sales though. I care about fun! Atm I get all my gaming fun from PlayStation consoles which is a shame because once upon a time I loved Nintendo just as much if not more. smh
