Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Halo: MCC is “a Black Eye for Us” "Halo 5 Made By Completely Different Team", Says Frank O'Connor

Why is it that I don't think 343 have the same pedigree as bungiee and wouldn't put my hopes and expectations so high on Halo 5? Owwww I know, because since bungiee dropped Halo it have been dropping in quality. It may be a different team, but qa and top management should be the same. Or is he saying that they went cheap with the mcc as cash grabbers?

I've never really been bothered by broken games. I enjoyed AC:U. Dying Light and most Bathesda games, but HMCC is probably the most prolific failure when it comes to being broken.

There were entire days where I just couldn't find a stable game. Easily must wave wasted 10+ hours sitting in the lobby and countless more of black screens etc.

Its been working perfectly fine for me since March though. I dont care how Halo 5 turns out, as long as its as fun as the other Halo's Im good.

Yeah, Bungie has been dropping in quality.

As for the Halo story, its stronger than ever. Hunt the Truth is an epic lead up to E3.

Yep, even bungiee don't deserve halo at the moment.

Not talking about the history, but quality and following. But I do hope Halo 5 turns up a great game and you, my brother, friends and other fans have endless hours of joy.

I think i will.

As for Bungie, ODST was nice, but most of the time there was no difference between ODST and a damn Spartan II.

Halo Reach though a good game, basically felt like more of the same.

Halo 4 had some fresh ideas, better storytelling etc. I know long time fans where at least partially pissed about MP, but actually it still played fine.

I only pay attention to good games be it AAA games from 2015 or games from the 70's. I'm 35 and I've been gaming so long that when I started out, NES wasn't even on the market yet. I've seen the industry slowly start morphing into this machine where shipping AAA games both incomplete and broken is the norm. It's bullshit and it shouldn't happen.

I remember hearing a recent interview with former Sega of America genius Tom Kalinske where he was asked what he thinks about today's industry and he said that the thing that surprised him the most was the fact that these publishers were shipping unfinished games and getting away with it. He said that back when he was in charge, no one ever allowed it and it wouldn't have happened on his clock. That's exactly how I feel it should still be.

And please... don't attempt to push Axiom Verge and games like Uncharted, Halo or COD into the same space. One is geniue, one is not. One is created by gamers (usually less than a few guys), the other is created by suits. Indie games (the good ones) are love letters to the people who buy them... not just paychecks for CEOs.

You're an old guy, its time to accept it does happen and people will buy games regardless. This is a reason I avoid playing games at launch and I rarely pay full price. Regardless, still fun to be had.

Tom Kalinske was around when expectations in gaming were a lot lower. I'm sure a lot of mediore games were released on his watch as well.

You obviously jumped into this thread to piss and moan about popular AAA games. I feel games like Uncharted, Halo, and CoD are ambitious and have been IPs that inspired other great games. Indie games like Axiom Verge are fine, while a game like Axiom Verge is primarily just a mish mash of old ideas.

35 and you started gaming pre Nintendo????? You were some rather lucky kid cause you started gaming at 4....???

Anyway a way bigger crapload of shitty games was coming out on the market back then... Heck in some cases more crap than barely decent games... But yeah that crap might have been less buggy I'll give you that.... But I'd take 20 AC:U or halo MCC over any of that running smooth crap of back in the days... And I'm 32 and started with Sega Ninty Atari and commodore consoles at home, relatives or friends and loved every second of it...
