Forums - Sony - 180,000 for BloodBorne first week in Japan was imposible?

If BloodBorne shipped +200,000, do you think that +180,000 was possible?

Yes. 76 73.08%

nope. 28 26.92%

Total:104

It's not impossible. From Software is getting more popular these days.

It would have sold even better

Like others have said here, it may have reached 180k (and exceeded it) if you count digital sales.

Buying a souls game digitally makes perfectly sense too IMO.

It's second week looks to be like a big drop though. :p you were close enough.

150K is pretty good. Heres to a long and fruitful run

I see people saying digital sales got it to 180k or more. Exactly how much digital sales come from Japan in a game's first week? Is it really 20% or more in that one market in one week?

Obviously we don't know the numbers but we know it has topped the PSN charts:

And IMO it makes really sense for any souls fans to buy (and pre-order) such a game digitally. It's a game that you'd want to re-play again later and don't intend to re-sell (if you are a fan of the souls serie). And most fans of the serie will have pre-ordered this game.

All I can say is that the PS4 because of the large HDD and the mandatory full installs (other than the better networks improving every day) is selling much more on digital than the PS3. Just check the evaluations for GTAV in the PS Store, knowing that on PS3 it sold in total 3 or 4 times more than on PS4. At least in my Country (which has a crappy digital network) on PS4 they outnumber by a long shot the ones on PS3:

PS4: 37551 evaluations

PS3: 23668 evaluations

Just for a matter of comparison Bloodborne has 9192 evaluations. If anyone has the numbers for Japan and/or US...

Also, some people most likely bought it digital when then couldn't find it in their area

None of that answered the question though. Does anyone know how games sell digitally in Japan?
