I noticed that Hitoribocchi is actually terribly directed. The execution is as clumsy as it gets. It feels like I'm literally watching animated manga panels. The entire show is carried by the source material and the stellar voice cast. Now I'm imagining a world where it's made by KyoAni, they know how to properly adapt 4koma.

The artist for the One Punch Man manga is really, really good.

It's kind of funny that OPM is a better shounen fighting manga/anime than most actual shounen fighting manga/anime.  The character designs are incredible.

The redraw is pretty amazing, basically an orgasm on paper. It's probably the first manga I'd recommend to someone who watches anime but has never touched a manga, since every panel flows together so flawlessly. Sometimes the artist releases 70 page chapters, and I finish in like 5 minutes and wonder what happened. The story might be repetitive and kinda slow, but the insanely good art makes it a must-read alone.

I could never get into the original web-comic/manga though. The cheesy looking art is supposed to be part of the appeal, but to me it just reminds me of those lame low-budget looking cartoons that used to air on late night Cartoon Network. Can only chuckle at intentionally lame art for a few pages before I get tired of it.

I watched some of my favorite videos from Digibro yesterday.

This one perfectly explains how there is a massive quality difference in the "cute girls doing cute things" genre.

And of course I rewatched the K-On analysis as an example of the greatest anime that will ever exist of this genre.

It's also the reason why I already planned this visit on my next trip to Japan this year.

I have been to tired for gaming, so as a consequence I get to watch more anime.

I watched:

Hero Mask- A decent show that also is basically a lesser version of other cop shows. The characters were weak but I enjoyed that a little bit, unfortunately things happen just because plot though. OP and ED were forgettable, as I already forgot what they sound like.

Fate/ extra last encore- I am not a fate fan by any means, but I usually can find a way to enjoy each series. The last Fate series I watched was apocrypha, and it had a good premise but was unfortunately the worst of the series. This show on the other hand can rival the top series as I really enjoyed the main character. He isn't pathetic or scared of random naked girls, he is driven by hatred. I enjoy characters driven by hatred or rage, and although he doesn't really show much of it, he constantly says he is so I choose to believe him. The step by step process was a little cool but also a little bland due to the 1 v 1 nature. I much prefer multiple faceted battles. The OP was okay enough that I listened to it half the time, ED was skippable.

Sword Gai the Animation (Part 2)- This show has always been weird. I enjoyed the regular animation but the CGI isn't really good. The plot is hard to grasp and always a little depressing. There were some random comedic moments though, which I appreciate, though it definitely did not fit well with the series. Overall a very meh series, but at least I could watch it rapidly unlike Basilisk season 2. OP and ED were meh.

The season was quite nice, but I'm already lagging massively behind again.

Next season is looking to be a light one as well. There's Accelerator and Symphogear as headliners and a bunch of interesting premises.

This one for example:
What would you do if you got transported into a video game...with your mom?? That's the dilemma facing high schooler Masato Oosuki, who has been unwittingly thrown into an RPG world with his doting mother close behind as part of a secret government scheme. As an avid gamer, Masato is eager to show off his skills...but that's hard to do when your mom is an insanely overpowered, dual-wielding, multi-target specialist!

Or this one:
The girls in a high school literature club do a little icebreaker to get to know each other: answering the question, "What's one thing you want to do before you die?" One of the girls blurts out, "Sex." Little do they know, the whirlwind unleashed by that word pushes each of these girls, with different backgrounds and personalities, onto their own clumsy, funny, painful, and emotional paths toward adulthood.

Or this one:
Yuuko Yoshida, is a 15-year-old girl who awakens one morning with demonic power, and is tasked with defeating a local magical girl. She has horns and a tail, but truthfully less power than an ordinary girl. She struggles to lift the "curse of a 40,000 yen (about US$365) per month living."

And then there is this thing:

The more I watch of Shield Hero, the more issues are becoming apparent. It really is not a good anime. I'll still watch it because it's at least a decent fantasy show and go knows we never have enough of those. For now it's just a worse Re:Zero.

I'm so happy. I have actually basically caught up with all of my animes this season. That means no old baggage into the new season and that hasn't happened for years now. I still have episodes from Summer 2018 in my backlog. The next season also looks quite light on good shows so I might even be able to make a dent in my backlog.

For next season I have 2 Must Watch, 1 Leftover and about 10 Maybes. This season I had 10 animes to follow.

It has been 19 days and I have watched 3 more animes. I am happy to make some progress on my ever increasing massive backlog. It rains a lot here, so I have had more excuses to stay inside.

Golden Kamuy Season 2- Honestly more of the same, which is brilliant. As ridiculous, funny, action packed, historical, educational, and etc, as last season. CGI bears were rare too, and the regular animation was great. A season 3 is likely to be a long way off, but I can definitely wait for quality. I could talk about this anime and its qualities for hours, but it is a task for another time. OP was good, ed was okay.

Tokyo Ghoul RE Part 2 (12 episodes)- While only season 1 was only truly good, I felt the need to finish this series. It didn't end as bad as I thought it would, but it definitely had a rough start. It is odd how a series like this wouldn't be milked for all its worth with a much more drawn out anime to properly adapt everything, but I suppose I know nothing about their monetization schemes. OP was decent.

Stein's Gate 0 (23 episodes)- I was hesitant to leave this anime for last because I might become desensitized to anime and enjoy it less. But I am glad, because like the original series I just couldn't stop watching. Everyone watching this probably already knows what eventually happens, but it is just too interesting on how it happens. I dropped a few tears, with all the emotion put into this anime. Sadly not much more Stein's Gate to be had, but I don't think this is an anime that needs to be continued. OP was okay, EDs were better (Which is rare for me).

Now is the choice between the other 50+ shows that I want to watch...

That's quite a list @_@

I've been trying to be more hand-to-mouth with my backlog, otherwise it gets overwhelming. Made a deal recently with a friend that I would watch Hyouka if he would watch Netjuu no Susume.

Hyouka is pretty good..I like how it can be about basically nothing and still be interesting to watch, and how mundane conversations usually have some plot importance later on. I'd say it passes the "Tea test"...meaning that the characters are fun enough to watch that I can see them do nothing but drink tea for 22 minutes and still enjoy it.

Almost done with it but it'll probably end up as my favorite KyoAni show. Yeah, even better than the one with the blonde girl that rubs her boobs for power. Hard to believe.
