Forums - Microsoft - GDC is this a defining week for the 360 in 2008 ?live or let die

So it gdc this week does anyone have any evidence of what microsoft top trump is? I have perceive sound it might be gears of war 2 conversely that should be save for e3 however e3 last year was a immense let down. Will the 360 showcase just sequels or a  totally new games? what is peter jackson halo ?I have also heard that their will be a game on 360 that  which will face up to mgs4.Is it gears of war 2 of a entirely new game. Does anyone have the answer to these issues or do I have to wait to the end of week?

Everyone has speculation, no-one has answers. I predict a new bundle or two, a possible price cut (though I hope they wait longer) and some new game announcements. I also wouldn't be surprised if there is a bit of paid exclusivity going on with a high-profile release or two.

You have to wait to end of the week.

I think the defining week for the 360 in 2008 is the week when they do their price cuts, and/or the week when GTA4 launches.

I thought they would do something big at GDC but reflecting on it over the past couple weeks, I think it is too early to reveal the big games for 2008.

They will probably finalize dates for Too Human and Ninja Gaiden II... We should see some Banjo news because all are previously announced. But, ther migght only be one real new announcement.

I think the space to watch at GDC 08 is going to be XBox Live and XNA. They have been hinting a lot about that this past couple weeks.

Why do I have to explain every year that GDC is a Game Developer's Conference which is far more focused on workshops, networking and marketing middleware?

Almost all game announcements that are made at GDC are used as a technical demonstration for a piece of technology that the company is attempting to sell people on; it is quite a bit different from E3 in that it is not a place for widespread game demos or announcments.

If they were planning a price cut before GTA, they had better do it now. If the NPD numbers are to be believed, the PS3 is willing handily in every region every week. They cannot afford to wait for a big splash with a simultaneous price cut with GTA.

Also, announce the Blu-ray add on now. Now that the format war is over, people need to know that Blu-ray movies are not a just a feature you can get on the PS3.

I completely agree...  Don't expect Blu-Ray, redesigned 360, or Price Drop announcements at this conference.  Any announcements will be around progress in technical spaces like the big three features of Fable 2, Maybe a demo of the rumoured stunning graphics on Alan Wake, maybe some news of Banjo's new take on platformers, etc.

@ WiiStation360

The PS3 only won NA in January due to 360 shortages that gamers reported long before MS did. A price cut in NA can wait a month or two as long as a nice bundle is announced this month.
