Whoa calm done, dont go full fanboy.

PlayStation division has lost over $8 billion since PS3 launched in November 2006.

The facts:
>FY 2007: $1,970,000,000 LOSS
>FY 2008: $1,079,000,000 LOSS
>FY 2009: $577,000,000 LOSS
>FY 2010: $889,000,000 LOSS
>FY 2011: $2,800,000,000 LOSS
>FY 2012: $1,100,000,000 LOSS

Total loss: $8,415,000,000

All figures come from Sony’s investor relations page - http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/index.html

You're wrong - those aren't just the gaming division numbers.

You are wrong, yes it is.

So I went ahead and got all of the numbers from the site you referenced and your original post is completely wrong.  They have definitely not lost more on the PS3 than they gained on the PS1/PS2.  Your numbers in the last post are correct but you only gave up through 2010Q2.  Since then things have improved.

Profit/loss in million yen.
Numbers for Game division unless noted

2000: -51,118
2001: 82,915
2002: 112,653
2003: 67,578
2004: 43,170
2005: 8,748
2006: -232,325

He is wrong because the division was in the black the last couple of years

He's also wrong because for about 2 years, Sony lumped the gaming division in the consumer products division, which was already incuring losses.

yea.. but it's common knowledge that the gaming division within that consumer products division is in the black

3DS overtracked by 400K? Looks like I'll be winning my bets, afterall :)

You still never responded me in that thread for the bet. I guess you chose to ignore it afterall or you can still accept the bet here: Nintendo will ship 15M units in their fiscal year ending march 31st 2014. The bet is still up for grabs if you want.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

These are the info for the games division that we have access to (in billions of yen):

FY2006: -232.3
FY2007: -124.5
FY2008: - 58.5

FY2012 : 1.7
Q1 FY13: -14.8
Q2 FY13: -0.8

That's -4.16B USD but we do not know how it fared for FY2009, 2010 and 2011 but they would have been close to profitability during those years.

I didn't see your post. 15M? That's a very, very, very safe bet for you. That's a little bit more than the best PS3 year.

Guys these are the latest operational profit/loss from the Game Division.

Just remember FY2009 Sony profited with Game Division but the TV loose so much that make the division put red numbers.

BTW I don't know where did you guys are getting these FAKE numbers because FY2009 *, FY2010, FY2011 and FY2012 the Game Division profited.

Well here http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=5868713. You even said it yourself multiple times that you didn"t believe that they would sell 15M units. Also as I said in the other post, you can't just use Q4 2013 shipments and add them up with Q1-Q3 2013 shipments, it just does not work like that.

X host and journalist Geoff Keighley just tweeted that Sony announced that PS4 was the top selling next-gen platform for “both hardware and software”Update: here’s what President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America had to say in the official press release that was delivered immediately afterwards:PlayStation 4 sales in North America and worldwide have been incredibly strong since launch, culminating in PS4 being recognized as the largest console launch in history. In North America alone, more than one million PS4 units were sold in only 24 hours and we’re pleased NPD has reported that PS4 was the top selling next gen platform for both hardware and software in November. We are humbled by the passion and excitement demonstrated by gamers for PS4. Demand continues to overwhelm supply, but we’re working hard to get PS4 units into the hands of customers throughout the holiday season. And here’s Keighley’s original tweet:Looks like at least for now we know that someone at Sony is probably uncorking a bottle of Champagne.
