Forums - Gaming Discussion - Don’t vote for Hillary Clinton

This is just one of many reasons I didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton. Unfortunately she won the primary in my state…

Just recently Hillary Clinton has been doing badly in the primary elections. For everyone with any interest in video games this is excellent news. Because she is one of those politicians who attack video games to further their own career. Her official website says that a priority as president would be: ”Protecting children against violence and sexual content in the media and studying the impact of electronic media on children’s cognitive, social, and physical development.” What this looks like is that she wants to take away our rights and freedoms. But she has a long history of this, she asked the Federal Trade Commission to “take immediate action to determine the source of graphic pornographic and violent content appearing on the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas video game.” And “determine whether an Adults Only (AO) rating is more appropriate than the current Mature (M) rating for the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas video game given this new, alarming content.” She has said that she is going to ”author a bill to create a federal law that would “put some teeth into video game ratings.” ” Everyone reading this knows that hers is a massive over-reaction. Teens come across far worse things in their daily life than GTA. Youth crime is on a downwards trend and there is no proof that video games cause any harm. In fact the opposite is true, there are lots of studies that prove that video games are beneficial. You would think that Hillary Clinton could find better things to do with her time. So why is she (and Gordon Brown on this side of the Atlantic) attacking an entertainment industry that does no harm? The answer is politics. They are doing it to create an image for themselves. By attacking games they think that they look strong, decisive and caring. All at the same time. And that the voters will like this which will enhance their political careers. We know that it makes them look stupid, misinformed and opportunistic. It should be harming their political careers. They are attacking an industry that provides employment to many tens of thousands of people and entertainment to hundreds of millions. And they are attacking it purely out of their own self interest. Why aren’t they doing something about books like Tess of the d’Urbervilles (a great classical work of English literature) which contain sex and violence yet have no age rating whatsoever? Surely they aren’t being hypocritical? Original article: http://www.bruceongames.com/2008/02/11/dont-vote-for-hillary-clinton/

Says the guy who lives in England. We kinda have bigger problems to worry about. Besides it's all pointless posturing and she wouldn't be able to get anything done anyway.

There are plenty of reasons to not vote for hillary Clinton.  If videogames are your main reason for not voting for her... that can i just have like $1,000,000?  As you must be like Bill Gates or some other super rich guy who pretty much has no worries in the world.

DON'T VOTE FOR BRUCEONGAMES! OR GO TO HIS WEBSITE!

In case you hadn't noticed, nobody needs to go to my website, I posted the whole article here. Why don't you start a gaming blog and write an original article every day? You will have to learn about paragraphs, how to use the caps button properly and a few other things, but I am sure you can do much better than me.

Although I agree that a vote for Hilary is a bad thing, theres no need to post in such a condescending manner is there? Just because someone says dont go to your website you turn around and attack them like that? Not to mention your patronizing assumptions that he doesnt understand the concept of capital letters and paragraphs. Asshole.

Well, I voted for her in my states primary on Feb 5. She's the candidate that I liked above all others. Why all the Hillary hate? It does not matter. She's my choice whether she wins or looses, I did my part.

Actually the article is about politicians in general. You may notice Gordon Brown features, for instance, he is the Prime Minister over here. I used Hillary for the title because you have a current election and the largest gaming audience in the world. So it made the article more relevant to more people.

He had a go at you first? Are you 8 years old? You must be if you find it necessary to feel superior to someone on the internet because they chose to use something you deemed as a swear word.

I just looked in a few dictionaries and they all say that Asshole is vulgar, which means that it really is swearing. So it is not what I deemed. It is generally thought that swearing is used mainly by those insufficiently educated or insufficiently intelligent to use the language properly. I tend to agree.

I voted for Bill twice - but after watching how she wants to keep troops in Iraq for a while (only recently did she change her tone), wants to make an unsanctioned Florida primary count and has a *by any means necessary* stance to win the White House turned me off. Sorry, but I want someone who will give me an audacity of hope - and change - even if it won't happen. Something is gonna happen - and Obama is the best to usher in change. That's why I cast my vote for him.

@ Bruce - you're on your own, buddy.
