Granblue Fantasy: VERSUS RISING Announced PS5/PS4/Steam for 2023 Worldwide

Isn't this a downgrade?

Forspoken looks like it's going to be another fail for S-E, the last one in a long series of f*ck-ups.

Also yes, the enhanced graphics of Granblue doesn't look like an enhancement, at all. And why are the browns different? Both for the eyes and the pants. It's strange.

343 Industries Will No Longer Make Halo Games, But Will Oversee Outside Development - Report

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/343-industries-will-no-longer-make-halo-games-but-will-oversee-outside-development-report/1100-6510721/?utm_source=reddit.com

It's about dang time. 343 took a franchise that revolutionized the fps genre and turned it into a joke. I remember the first time I experienced Halo. I was a kid that liked Nintendo games and pc games and didn't care much for fps games. Then I went to my friends house and his brother got this new system called a Xbox which I didn't hear much about and they were playing a game called Halo. We all took turns playing coop on it and it was the first game that really introduced me to the genre. Being able to play co-op with others beating the aliens that invaded our planet. I did eventually buy it for PC and it was amazing. Seeing the Halo ring for the first time was nothing like I have seen before. Seeing the flood for the first time scared the shat out of me back then. I could go on and on but it's quite the shame where this franchise ended up. It was going downhill even before 343 took the helm but they really took the core aspects out of the game let alone the characters and such.

I really do hope that MS finds a new home for Halo cause the name once was seen as the flagship game of Xbox. But these days, it's just another brick in the wall so to speak.

Yeah I heard last night that SE is being super picky with the ppl they are giving the codes to, which is possibly the biggest red flag of them all. Game is going to be absolutely atrocious on PC, I can see it so easily.

As for 343, I honestly never saw them as the perfect fit for carrying on Halo's legacy, mostly because ever since MS took them on board, the studio started fucking around with the game's lore, and it also didn't help that they warped visuals of the lore itself as well (like the Forerunner tech being massively changed to look non identical to 1's interpretation).

Overseas dev doesn't exactly spark confidence in me though, since it means the lore could be fractured even more, or hell, more retcons, because we totally want more of those at this point.

Yea outsourcing isn't exactly the best thing from my experience but I just want MS to try something else instead of continuing the same trajectory. Like they gave 343 nearly a decade worth of chances to make a memorable Halo game but they not only goofed (imo) with Halo 4/Halo 5/Halo Infinite but somehow, they managed to fuck up Halo MCC during launch which required an insane amount of updates to get to a good spot. At this point, MS needs to branch out and see if someone else can breathe new life into the franchise.

Well they are restructuring under the new head, and his the guy who turned around the MCC collection and has made massive improvements to infinite within the short time he has been working on it. Fallout 4 gets an HD Texture Pack that adds Next-Gen Parallax Textures
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/fallout-4-gets-an-hd-texture-pack-that-adds-next-gen-parallax-textures/
Modder ‘Tommy Creo’ has released a new HD Texture Pack for Fallout 4 that adds to the game some high-quality next-gen parallax textures. According to the modder, this first version of this pack replaces about 20 textures, primarily landscape and architecture.
Do note that in order to enable these Parallax Textures, you’ll need ENBSeries. Furthermore, ENB Complex Parallax does come with a bit of a performance hit. Additionally, the pack does not change the grass and rocks placed on top of the landscape.
>> Only some screenshots are provided.

New Red Dead Redemption 2 Mods overhaul the textures of medium & large mammals
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/new-red-dead-redemption-2-mods-overhaul-the-textures-of-medium-large-mammals/
Modder ‘WickedHorseMan’ has released two new HD Texture Packs for Red Dead Redemption 2 that overhaul medium and big mammals. WickedHorseMan has used AI techniques in order to upscale the original textures, meaning that these enhanced textures retain the art style of the original.
The HD Texture Pack for medium mammals is 2GB and covers 10 animals. These are Big Horn Ram, Boar, Coyote, Dogs (all breeds), Fox, Goat, Javelina, Pig, Sheep and Wolf. On the other hand, the pack for large mammals is 2.3GB and covers 11 animals. These are Bear, Buck, Buffalo, Deer, Cougar, Cow, Donkey, Elk, Ox, Panther and Pronghorn.
>> Again, only 6 screenshots of 6 different animals.

The HD Reworked Project is a must-have HD Texture Pack for The Witcher 3. While the Next-Gen version of The Witcher 3 features most of the overhauled textures, the modder has been working on a new version that will be compatible with it.

The most vital Dwarf Fortress mod has arrived for Steam, complete with 3D visuals
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-most-vital-dwarf-fortress-mod-has-arrived-for-steam-complete-with-3d-visuals/
The one true mod for Dwarf Fortress has finally released not just one, but two iterations of an alpha for the Steam version of the game, also known as v50. DFHack is a vital piece of equipment for Dwarf Fortress enthusiasts for two reasons: First, it's a full suite of console commands to fix problems and improve performance. Second, it incorporates a popular visualization tool called Stonesense that lets you see an isometric view of your fortress.
First off, if you're running out to try this alpha, I'll warn you: It's an alpha, make a backup of your game, heck, your entire DF folder, before mucking around with this. DFHack's release notes have some advice on how to do that.

Become a true artist with The Joy of Painting mod for Morrowind
https://www.pcgamer.com/become-a-true-artist-with-the-joy-of-painting-mod-for-morrowind/
A delightful new Morrowind mod adds a diegetic photo mode, of sorts, to the 20-year-old RPG. Up and coming mod The Joy of Painting from modder Merlord lets you carry around a field easel on your back, plop it down, and use it as a portable art station to become the Van Gogh of Vvardenfell.
Joy of Painting adds a quite feature-rich painting mechanic to Morrowind, letting you create sketches, oil and watercolor paintings, and charcoal drawings that exist not just in the game as objects but are also saved as high-res images on your PC so you can use them outside the game.

World of Warcraft Classic gets a modern facelift thanks to files ripped out of the latest Portal game
https://www.pcgamer.com/world-of-warcraft-classic-gets-a-modern-facelift-thanks-to-files-ripped-out-of-the-latest-portal-game/
The unflinchingly nostalgic World of Warcraft Classic and the neo-futuristic ideal of real-time ray tracing in absolutely, positively everything don't immediately strike me as a natural match. And yet here we are, with a surprisingly pretty version of the MMO using Nvidia's RTX Remix files ripped right out of Portal RTX.
The video recently went live on r/RTXRemix and the visuals are rather astounding considering this is a complete hack with a bunch of code not actually designed to be used with Blizzard's MMO remake.
>> There's a 10+ minute video of the mod.

Psyonix unleashes 'banwave' against the Rocket League bot menace
https://www.pcgamer.com/psyonix-unleashes-banwave-against-the-rocket-league-bot-menace/
A few weeks ago we reported on a new trend in Rocket League: A bot that had been built for fun and learning, Nexto, had been reconfigured by bad actors and used in widespread cheating. Player clips of the bots in action abound, and all show a preternatural command of the ball, as well as a suspicious tendency to stay on the ground most of the time.
At the time, Psyonix told us it was "actively investigating solutions" and now it looks like Nexto's time is up. In an update posted to the Rocket League subreddit, the studio posted a statement acknowledging that this was "a very active topic" around the community, and what it's done about it.

Games usually get cheaper as they age, but in a rare reversal, beloved factory management game Factorio will get a price bump on January 26, going from $30 to $35.
"This is an adjustment to account for the level of inflation since the Steam release in 2016," Factorio's developer announced on Twitter today (spotted by Kotaku). We reviewed Factorio after it shed its early access label in 2020, awarding it a very positive 91%.

CD Projekt global PR director Radek Grabowski was quick to emphasize this point on Twitter, cooling a rush of speculation that the long-awaited expansion would surpass The Witcher 3's highly regarded Blood and Wine in size and scope.

Various influencers and members of the press received a mysterious letter that, when viewed under blacklight, contains the symbol of the Daedric prince, Hermaeus Mora, The Demon of Knowledge, Master of the Tides of Fate, The Gardener of Men, Lord of Secrets, the… you know what, you get it. Cool Water Alert: Watch water drain from fish tank bullet holes in Phantom Fury
https://www.pcgamer.com/cool-water-alert-watch-water-drain-from-fish-tank-bullet-holes-in-phantom-fury/
Every once in a while PC Gamer's Chris Livingston will post something in the site's slack channel with the tagline "COOL WATER ALERT" and I love it when I'm around for those posts. Why, you might ask? Because cool water is always good. It is good when a videogame does something cool with water.
So it is in Phantom Fury, which Slipgate Ironworks CEO Frederik Schreiber has revealed includes the absolutely delightful ability to put bullet holes in fish tanks and then the water drains out.

https://www.pcgamer.com/endless-dungeon-has-a-release-date-and-you-can-get-dungeon-of-the-endless-for-free/
The next game in Amplitude's Endless series will be Endless Dungeon, a follow-up to 2014's Dungeon of the Endless, which is my equivocating way of saying it's not actually a sequel. Where that was a roguelike tactical RPG with a bit of tower defense thrown in, the new game seems more like a twin-stick shooter with a bit of tower defense thrown in. And it'll be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store from May 14.

https://www.pcgamer.com/grand-theft-auto-online-has-its-own-dark-souls-style-critical-security-vulnerability-on-pc/
The Rockstar Games-focused account Tez2 recently shared evidence of security vulnerabilities in Grand Theft Auto Online. A number of players have reported account progress being reversed, as well as being kicked or blocked from joining games on PC. There is a pinned post on the GTA Online subreddit dedicated to the issue and bringing it to Rockstar's attention, and the developer Speyedr, who created the custom GTA 5 firewall tool Guardian, warns that modders using the exploit are on the verge of remote code execution through GTA Online, meaning that hackers could remotely activate malware on PCs running the game.

https://www.pcgamer.com/ready-your-cyberbike-and-tear-out-a-robots-guts-with-a-grappling-hook-in-gripper/
You ever want to roar across the dystopian wasteland of the future's wastelands and cities on your incredibly slick-looking cyberpunk motorcycle? Yeah, me neither, but I'd love to do that in a videogame, and that's what we're here for.
Gripper is an upcoming action indie all about taking down tough bosses, ripping out their hearts, and using those to customize your absolutely enviable ride. Yeah, it's a boss rush game, one of those where the whole point of the thing is throwing yourself up against tough bosses and figuring out how to tear them to pieces.

The Dead Space remake is too scary for its own technical director
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-dead-space-remake-is-too-scary-for-its-own-technical-director/
The real test of a great horror game is playing it in the dark. Things that don't seem too bad while friendly Mr. Daystar is shining through the window become worrying at night. The last time I got so creeped out I needed to save my game and do something else before bed was Signalis, and I remember doing the same thing in the scarier levels of Thief: The Dark Project. With luck, the Dead Space remake might be another for that list.

This rhythm game just became one of Steam's worst games of all time
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-rhythm-game-just-became-one-of-steams-worst-games-of-all-time/
It's very rare for a game to be so dire that it earns a single-digit rating on Steam. It certainly happens, though, as proven by O2Jam Online's release last week. The rhythm game is currently sitting on a 4% rating, with only around 41 of its 1,000+ reviews recommending it.
>> It may be bad, but it also looks to be quite popular given the number of reviews.
