Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Approved! But it sadly isn't up to the Mod team, sorry

I do hate downvotes though, I even question if upvotes are hurting the site as it could be argued they discourage posting but on downvotes specifically, they were originally mostly for spambots to hide them until a Mod dealt with the comment, now we have next to no spambots so that's irrelevant.

It seems to me now that downvotes are used (mostly) for console warring, folk downvoting fanbases for being on the other side, folk downvoting users simply cause they dislike them, regardless of the content of their post, I hate that supporters have extra voting power because it isn't a true representation of things and I think we'll get to a point where it discourages posting entirely.

Idk if Talon is still around though Tbh...

Yeah the spambots are pretty much gone at this point, which just has us seeing selective ppl being censored, which sucks.

I don't even know why we're still seeing warring, considering that this new gen isn't anywhere as lopsided as it was early last gen. Xbox didn't massively fumble and Sony didn't get an easy win, this gen it's pretty much neutral, at least in my eyes.

It is a bit odd though, how supporters get double the upvote/downvote power, because that's like having two people on one account.

If Talon ever comes back or shows up, we'll have to talk to him about this, because I honestly think the site would be better off if we either got rid of the downvoting system or the upvote/downvotes altogether (it would actually get people to discuss more, instead of relying on a single button).

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

I wish I could, but the vampire side in me (don't ask, it's a lomg story), doesn't like that much brightness directed right at my face.

There's also the problem of getting blind, that's just a secondary worry.

Guru3D 2021 December 8th: Win an ECS LIVA Q1L Mini PC (!)
https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/guru3d-2021-december-8th-win-an-ecs-liva-q1l-mini-pc-().html

That's not the product you'd get if you win. The one you'd get is golden and blue, but this is the only picture available:

(this would be the back)

The specs of the product are:

  • Intel Apollo Lake Pentium N4200 SOC
  • 4 GB LPDDR4 DRAM
  • 64GB eMMC Storage
  • A test version of Windows Installed. If you win it you'll need to purchase and activate Windows yourself

Good luck (if you decide to take part in it).

I hope to God Nvidia is better prepared for bots and scalpers next generation. I don't care about having it day 1, just let me backorder for MSRP and send it when you have stock ffs.

Yeah If I could order at launch say October next year and my shipment isn't due until March I'd be happy with that.

Yeah, well, Nvidia may get better prepared for their own store, but most cards are sold through other retailers. And most of those don't give a sh!t about that because, in the end, a sale is a sale.

Now, if one or both actually managed to put hardware limitations to mining, making them mostly useless for that, now that would be a game changer.

Is it even possible for them to completely lock out mining without hurting the performance in general of the cards if they designed them with that intention from the start or would they only be able to put the LHR on them again still making them profitable for mining just not stupidly good?

The other problem would be the dedicated miner GPU's fighting for chip quota and if these are bigger profit margins for Nvidia it could just as easy push general gaming GPU's into a shortage situation once again.

I don't see why they couldn't. After all, Nvidia was able to limit the mining capcity of Ampere despite being a finished and already released product, which limits what you can do. If they take that into consideration while still designing the chips, the results could be much better, and target other crypto currencies other than Ethereum. The same goes for AMD, even if they've done nothing this gen.

As for crypto cards putting Ada Lovelace/RDNA3 on the backseat, it seems unlikely if only because both new architectures will be made on TSMC's 5nm, while the cryto cards, that usually rely on older architectures, will be made using other nodes. There shouldn't be any availability problems due to that.

They have no incentive to do anything. Hopium is nice though. Sometimes it pays off.

My hope is that Nvidia already tried to do something, and they may try it again next time.

I have to admit that, with AMD, my hope in much, much lower.

@Captain_Yuri Gratz! Looks awesome.

Btw anyone else tried Nvidia Image Scaling (NIS)? This thing is essentially the same as FSR but works system wide on games and video's. Upscaling works insanely well while watching video's on MediaPlayerClassic and games looks quite decent at Ultra (1440P). Nice option to have if you have an older title that doesn't support DLSS or have a Nvidia GPU that doesn't support it.
