PC wins Golden Joystick Award for 'Ultimate Hardware of All Time,' accepted by Gabe Newell
It's good to remind ourselves now and then that video gaming of any form has only been around for about 50 years. The explosion of home electronics over the past half-century has featured some amazing platforms along the way, from the Atari VCS and Colecovision through the NES, PlayStation 2, and Nintendo Switch. But one towers above them all as the Ultimate Hardware of All Time, revealed during today's Golden Joystick Awards as the venerable, immortal PC.

NEO: The World Ends With You underperforms Square Enix's initial expectations
Square Enix today posted [PDF] its Outline of the Results Briefing held on November 5, 2021, which covers the six-month period of the current fiscal year ending on September 30, 2021.

Within the briefing, when discussing year-over-year declines in both the Digital Entertainment segment and HD Games sub-segment, Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda stated that NEO: The World Ends With You did not meet the company's initial expectations.

I really want to know what the sales were like since it was made EGS exclusive. my Guess is that an incredibly niche game like that likely didn't sell well over there, but I imagine it sold better on the consoles it was sold on.

I also don't think KH sold all that well on PC as well.

Gaben taking the award is pretty apt lol

I'd say its pretty unfair lumping pc's as a one and be all platform for a hardware award when its essentially an open platform. With countless configurations and interchangeable components and ever evolving hardware.. but y'know, I can't disagree with this result. For me PC's almost always offer the best gaming experience (in terms of visuals/performance) in any given generation given you have the right hardware to play on them. And then you have the perks of an open platform.

I find it a weird award as well, since PC is open and Gabe gets the PC is more or less a thankless kind of platform. It doesn't need any awards for hw ever, because the hw is forever changing every year, so it doesn't really make sense to give it a hw based award, or even a software based one.

Sneaky Forza Horizon 5 players have been exploiting accessibility options for easy cash
A few weeks ago, Forza Horizon 5's barn-based gifting system was being flooded by cheap Jeeps... () .. at least until a recent patch which removed the Super Wheelspin reward from the Willys altogether.

The state of Battlefield 2042: tank sniping, buff hovercrafts, and a ghost tower
The latest odd discovery made by Battlefield 2042 players is a way to hide a helicopter inside a building. TSMC “Apple-first” 3nm policy leads to AMD and Qualcomm mutiny

This does open up spots for Intel and Nvidia even if they might be much more supply constrained than going with Samsung. It will be interesting to see AMD being at a node disadvantage for once assuming Samsungs 3nm is indeed worse than TSMCs. Of course, while Intel is rumoured to go with TSMC, we haven't heard anything from Nvidia just yet.

So they can keep charging their high prices while maintaining stock levels

So TSMC decides to raise the prices in the middle of a shortage... I hope it comes back later and bites them in the arse.

As for the AMD part... well, with Intel coming back and their CPUs already being overpriced, they can't really raise their prices now. The GPUs are another thing, tho, with the shortages and the miners buying all the stock they can. It will be curious to see if AIB partners raise their price as well despite the huge profit margin they alerady have right now, just to gauge how greedy they are.

5800X for $300, and the best deal I found during this Black Friday week is 380 € (I know, I know, one is without taxes and the other one is with them, but still...).
