Well that sucks. I want to do some major upgrades when GPUs are available and when DirectStorage is out so that fast SSDs get a bit more time to mature and improve, but by then we might have run out of stock already. Sounds like I'll have to either get a new SSD right about now or risk not being able to get a good one for any reasonable price later. Since I'm in no rush thanks to the GPU situation, I might as well wait, but I'm fully expecting to be quite annoyed later due to lack of supply...

Yea it is quite annoying. The good news is that as long as you have at least a reasonable pci-e 3.0 Nvme SSD, you can use direct storage with really any GPU. Hell as btc keeps going down, maybe Chia won't even take off until the next boom since buying all these equipment costs money.

Tell that to my SATA SSD... When I got this SSD, I thought there's no need to get a better SSD when it's just the OS disk anyway (I upgraded my OS SSD from a smaller SSD and not an HDD). For games, I've been using an HDD since I got this PC, and now I want a really fast SSD for them instead of just getting something... And now we're at a point where games might actually start utilizing SSDs for gameplay purposes due to the new consoles. I suppose it'll take a while though, so it's OK, but I really did pick the worst time for upgrading my PC.

Yea I hear that. There are so many reasons to upgrade but thanks to outside influences, the prices of PC components have been terrible. The only way I was even able to get my PC was by having 3 different computers auto refreshing different sites every 10 seconds while having Discord notifications set to full volume. The moment that the Discord server notified me that a 3080 or 5950x was in stock, I was able to get them because I was already auto refreshing.

I have never in the history of PC gaming needed to do that. It's how bad the landscape really is. But sooner or later, it will equalize and that is when things will go back to normal. And when that happens, I think many people might spend extra to build a PC to last a console generation just in case.

AMD needs to improve on RAM compatibility. Seriously.. not that had this many issues with RAM OC, and preset XMP profiles so much as I've had with pre Ryzen setups. XMP on Zen simply sucks. Oh well, managed to get 'XMP' with a slight downclock to 3533Mhz, from a set of 3600 (CL 16) Crucial Ballistix Elite so I'd call that a win lol.

Might try get that to CL 15 and call it a day.

https://www.pcgamer.com/it-takes-two-has-sold-over-a-million-copies/
It Takes Two is a co-op romantic comedy where two people are transformed into dolls by a magic book so they can work out their marital issues. It's not what you'd call a guaranteed seller, and yet it seems to have hit its mark. Hazelight Studios, developer of It Takes Two, tweeted that it "has sold over 1 million copies and is still going strong! Thank you so much for all the love you’ve shown our game, it means the world to us".

https://www.pcgamer.com/swords-and-parkour-battle-royale-naraka-bladepoint-draws-120k-players-in-test/
The open beta for Naraka: Bladepoint that went live this week racked up 120,000 concurrent players earlier today during test, a pretty promising start for the character-driven battle royale game all about leaping, climbing, stabbing, and transforming into a six-armed god.

Titanfall 2 hit a record player count on Steam thanks to Apex Legends and a sale
https://www.pcgamer.com/titanfall-2-hit-a-record-player-count-on-steam-thanks-to-apex-legends-and-a-sale/
In the last 24 hours, Titanfall 2 hit a new peak player count of 16,958 on Steam. Back at its launch on the store in June of 2020 it peaked at 13,427 players and had steadily dropped down to just a few thousand until midway through April. That leap is thanks in part to a Steam sale that saw the price drop to $7.50, but Respawn's previous shooter has also seen a resurgence in interest thanks to their current shooter, Apex Legends.

Alien: Isolation DLC is free this time as well
https://www.pcgamer.com/alien-isolation-and-hand-of-fate-2-are-free-on-the-epic-games-store/
Last time Alien: Isolation was given away on the Epic Store, it was just the base game. This time, the Last Survivor DLC is bundled with it. That's the one where you play as Ellen Ripley, with Sigourney Weaver returning to voice the role, and get to relive the finale of the original movie—racing to set the Nostromo's self-destruct and escape the doomed ship.
Even if you already own Alien: Isolation on Epic, you can go to its page on the store and grab it again. This time, you'll get the DLC for free.

GOG starts the week with three sales:

Steam has two daily deals:

The new Humble LEGO Build it Bundle features up to 6 games to grab during the next 11 days: https://www.humblebundle.com/games/lego-built-to-bundle

And Fanatical has three new deals:

Microsoft has fixed the recent Windows 10 gaming performance issues
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/microsoft-has-fixed-the-recent-windows-10-gaming-performance-issues/
Last month, Microsoft issued an update for Windows 10 that reportedly degraded performance on a number of PC systems. And a few days ago, the company released another update that resolves those gaming performance issues.
As Microsoft noted, a small subset of users has reported lower than expected performance in games after installing this update. Most users that suffered from this issue were running games full screen or borderless window modes and using two or more monitors.
In order to resolve this issue, Microsoft is using Known Issue Rollback (KIR). This solution enables Microsoft to “quickly revert a single, targeted fix to a previously released behavior if a critical regression is discovered “.

The community is already fixing issues with Nier Replicant's port
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-community-is-already-fixing-issues-with-the-nier-replicant-pc-port/
While the PC version of Nier Replicant may not be as disappointing as Nier Automata's port, it still has some problems. As Julie Muncy said in her review, "The technical aspects are much improved over the original, which struggled to maintain 30 fps, but they're not quite up to contemporary standards." She experienced technical problems including "serious frame drops when I accidentally unplugged my controller, or a persistent issue where my mouse point kept reappearing on my screen during cutscenes, which was not great for the game's sense of gravitas."
(...)
Thankfully, the modding and tweaking community has already stepped in and begun repairing Replicant. First there's the Special K injectable by old mate Kaldaien, which will let you get rid of the mouse cursor showing up when you're playing with gamepad, cut down on stuttering by disabling the PS4 HID input, set your own framerate limit, and turn off the internal v-sync. Then there's the Nier Replicant High FPS Fix, one of the first things for the game available on its brand new Nexusmods section. It'll let you run Nier Replicant over 60 fps without borking the animations—except for when you're slow-walking, which might leave you facing the wrong way.

Monday news, part two:

Warzone director says cheaters are 'ruining some of the best work that I’ve done in my life'
https://www.pcgamer.com/warzone-director-says-cheaters-are-ruining-some-of-the-best-work-that-ive-done-in-my-life/
Cheating in multiplayer videogames is a fact of life. Developers do what they can, but there's always a portion of a game's audience that would rather dick around than play on a level field. It sucks, frankly, and not just for players, but for developers as well. In a recent interview with VGC, Raven Software associate creative director Amos Hodge expressed some serious frustration with Call of Duty: Warzone players who "ruin the game" for everyone else.

Yoko Taro doubts Nier Replicant will sell very well because Automata was 'a fluke'
https://www.pcgamer.com/yoko-taro-doubts-nier-replicant-will-sell-very-well-because-automata-was-a-fluke/
NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... arrived today, and we like it an awful lot, with some caveats. (...)
One person who doesn't share that level of enthusiasm for the game is Yoko Taro, the creative director of the Nier games. In a message posted on the Square Enix website, he reminded everyone that Nier Replicant is just a "version upgrade" of the 2010 PS3 original, and predicted that it's not going to sell very well because none of his games ever do.

Hitman's next elusive target is a murderous politician with a body double
https://www.pcgamer.com/hitmans-next-elusive-target-is-a-murderous-politician-with-a-body-double/
Of all the videogames with killing at their core, no other makes the gruesome task more satisfying than Hitman 3. As if the prospect of blowing someone up with a golf ball or mincing them in a grape press wasn't enticing enough on its own, IO Interactive makes sure that you know your target really deserves what's coming to them. Hitman 3's next limited-time elusive target, The Politician, fits that bill.

Tennocon, the annual Warframe fan convention, returns in July as a digital event
https://www.pcgamer.com/tennocon-the-annual-warframe-fan-convention-returns-in-july-as-a-digital-event/
The annual Warframe fan convention Tennocon took place entirely online last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but that didn't keep a lot of big news from coming out of it. Sadly, the pandemic persists, and so Tennocon 2021 will once again be a fully digital event when it returns in July.

Manage a colony of busy beavers in 'lumberpunk' city builder Timberborn
https://www.pcgamer.com/manage-a-colony-of-busy-beavers-in-lumberpunk-city-builder-timberborn/
Humans aren't the only creatures that build structures that can be seen from space. So do beavers, which have constructed dams so huge they can be spotted in satellite photos. Since the 1970s, a colony of beavers in Canada have undertaken a multigenerational effort to build a dam that's twice as big as the Hoover dam. Take that, human engineers!
So it makes a certain amount of sense that beavers should have their own city building game. Enter Timberborn, a colony sim about a bunch of intelligent beavers who inhabit the Earth long after mankind has perished. Now they're the ones building cities, farming crops, and researching new technologies.

Respawn is definitely working on a new game and world "from scratch"
https://www.pcgamer.com/respawn-is-definitely-working-on-a-new-game-and-world-from-scratch/
A new job posting confirms that Respawn Entertainment, creators of Titanfall and Apex Legends, are working on a "new IP from scratch," in a small incubation team. The news was confirmed by a tweet from developer Steven Kah Hien Wong and amplified by Respawn boss Vince Zampella. This news confirms the rumors that started circulating after a similar job posting was made and deleted earlier this year.

Players are glitching below Call of Duty: Warzone's new map to cheat
https://www.pcgamer.com/players-are-glitching-below-call-of-duty-warzones-new-map-to-cheat/
Looks like a new glitch lets players get beneath Call of Duty: Warzone's brand new Verdansk '84 map, killing opponents who can't see them or fight back. A clip posted to Reddit yesterday shows how easy it is to get underneath the map near the airport location.

Borderlands 3 Director's Cut includes a deleted scene that would have made it a better game
https://www.pcgamer.com/borderlands-3-directors-cut-includes-a-deleted-scene-that-would-have-made-it-a-better-game/
The Director's Cut DLC for Borderlands 3 adds a variety of bits and bobs, including a raid boss, a short series of side missions, and a collection of behind-the-scenes bonuses like bloopers and cut content. Among that cut content is the animatic for a cutscene that didn't make it into the finished game, presumably for reasons of budget or time.

Smash together Binding of Isaac and Dark Souls to get Devil Slayer - Raksasi
https://www.pcgamer.com/smash-together-binding-of-isaac-and-dark-souls-to-get-devil-slayer-raksasi/
Here's a charming little indie: Devil Slayer - Raksasi is a top-down action roguelike that's a bit like what you'd get if you smashed together the dungeon crawling of The Binding of Isaac with the timing-based combat of a soulslike. Developer GlassesCatGames, a three-person studio out of Guangzhou, China, has put the game through the Early Access wringer over the past few years and just released it this week.

Wasteland 3 update will make the swearing parrot more sweary
https://www.pcgamer.com/wasteland-3-update-will-make-the-swearing-parrot-more-sweary/
In the lead-up to Wasteland 3 expansion The Battle of Steeltown, due on June 3, InXile Entertainment is outlining its next free update, patch 1.4.0. Part of the focus is an upgrade of the animal companion system, and that means Polly the swearing parrot will get an even fouler mouth. Beak? Whatever.

Sega is teasing an announcement for Judgment, the brilliant standalone Yakuza spin-off
https://www.pcgamer.com/sega-is-teasing-an-announcement-for-judgment-the-brilliant-standalone-yakuza-spin-off/
Now that all mainline Yakuza games are available on PC, it's really about time Judgment made the jump. Formerly a PS4 exclusive, Judgment released for Xbox and Stadia just last week but skipped us, for some reason. It's a great standalone game set in Yakuza's Kamurucho, with all the melodrama and strangeness of a Yakuza game, only this one stars private detective Takayuki Yagami and his sidekick Masaharu Kaito. The latter is one of the best characters Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has ever created.
Anyway, Sega and aforementioned studio is currently teasing a big Judgment-related announcement for May 7 at 7am PDT. Plenty of fans have speculated that it's a Judgment sequel, which could very well be true. But maybe, just maybe, it'll be the day we hear about a PC port. Please let it be so.

Regional humor and singing robots, together at last in a point-and-click adventure
https://www.pcgamer.com/regional-humor-and-singing-robots-together-at-last/
Powerfully English point-and-click adventure Yorkshire Gubbins was first released in late 2017. (...)
Now, in April of 2021, a new episode has finally arrived. And it's a musical. Aye Fair Lady is a rough 30 minutes of smooth point-and-click silliness set on Mandatory Singing Day. Which is exactly what it sounds like: a day when robots fine you 20 pence if you don't sing. Steggy's not having any of it, and so your mission is to infiltrate and overcome the Mandatory Singing Day singing competition.

Yea I had issues when I got my 3900x and paid it up my Crosshair Vi Hero and 3200 mhz ram.

The way I managed to make it work is my manually setting in the timings. Least with this mobo, when you enable DOCP and set it to the rated amount and you go to save changes in the BIOS, it will give you a preview of all the settings that it's going to change. So I took a screen shot of all of those and manually changed it. After that, it worked flawlessly.

AMD 4700S might be XBOX Series X|S APU for PCs

https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-4700s-might-be-xbox-series-xs-apu-for-pcs

We have seen something similar happen with the xbox one SoC where you can buy one from China, install windows on it and use it normally. Now the interesting thing with this one is that the iGPU that's in the Series X is disabled as most likely, the manufacturer of the Series X/S are selling yields that had flaws in them like the iGPUs not working properly. So instead, you get a RX550 but there is a pci-e slot. It also doesn't have any ram slots however the CPU uses 16GB of GDDR6. That's right, GDDR6. Not DDR4 but GDDR6!

But most importantly, we get benchmarks of how the new console cpus stack up against PC. Now this is clocked at 4 ghz instead of 3.8 but still.

Quite impressive! Hopefully GN or something buys this and does some extensive testing!

You'd think that setting DOCP on, the motherboard would just set everything and work with minimum fuss but nope lol. Saying that, haven't tried manual OC yet but I'm guessing that way would work more reliably (like yours). I left everything else on auto so it might be conflicting with other settings like the infinity fabric, or something. Going to give manual a try, but if all else fails I won't be too fussed xP

Yea it's pretty much one of the reasons why I bought the Dark Hero. Just wanted everything to work out of the box as intended and it pretty much did. It's also why I didn't wait for Zen 4 cause if you think this is bad, Ryzen 1 launch was horrible!
