People who own more than 25K games on Steam..

I didn't even know there were that many games on steam...

JEMC said:

Remember, they may own them, but how many games have they actually played?

Also... there's a ton of free to play games on Steam.

Imagine them coming to afterlife, and then being told they could enter heaven only after having played through and gotten all achievements of every single game they own...

Everything looks good.

Windows is another 80€? That seems high.

Yeah, it is. It's mostly because it's not only a physical version but also the one that comes on a pendrive. We (my brother and I) saw a cheaper one on DVD but the customer reviews were less than good, so we decided to go for that one instead.

The specs are:

  • CPU: Intel i5-10400. Not as good as the 11400 but it's still a 6-core/12-threads part that will serve him well
  • RAM: 2x8GB 2400MHz DDR4. Not the fastest but, since it's not for games, the performance penalty will be minimal
  • Mobo: Gigabyte H410M H. Not going to lie, it was the cheapest board with an HDMI output.
  • SSD: A 480GB Crucial BX500

Total hardware cost: 349.77€

Windows is another 80€, but thankfully my brother had a spare copy of office. Apparently it's from work, they gave him a windows copy but he uses a Mac (poor loser), and they gave him a Mac version without asking the other one back.

Honestly, I have the same kit (though I bought two kits instead), and my perf in games hasn't been that bad, but I would love to upgrade to a faster kit. Might as well just wait for DDR5.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

True I don't doubt they've played most of them. But then there are masochists who play for achievements so they won't be the average user. Like a person who owns thats half the whole Steam library isn't normal lol. I mean thats some cray hoarding right there!

Imagine trying to find a game to play. Literally have to type it out to find it xD

Every Sunday my brother comes home to have lunch and then plays a bit with my PC. I have around 250 games on Steam and, when trying to find what to play, he always says that "I have no games".

I'd love to see him saying that with so many games as those guys (you can bet that he would).

It could be him! But yeah I'd imagine he'd be quite spoiled for choice lol.

Though I think we're all a bit like that for Steam games. Even for EG store where you get freebies and sitting on a massive library, and you like like ehh.. nothing to play and you launch the same couple of games instead.

Also grats on your dads new build! Mighty fine PC there :D

Steam rolls out even more convoluted ways to browse its games
https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-rolls-out-even-more-convoluted-ways-to-browse-its-games/
Valve has added yet more ways to browse through the massive pile of games offered through Steam with the addition of a "New and Noteworthy" dropdown menu and more detailed game categories based on "navigational entry points" built around genres, themes, and player modes.
The new features were actually introduced in December 2020 as an experimental option in Steam Labs. But now it's been rolled out to all users, in the menu bar at the top of Steam's front page. The New and Noteworthy dropdown rounds up categories including Top Sellers, New and Trending, Current Specials, Recently Updated, and Popular Upcoming, making them all available in a single location.

Metal Gear Online 2 is once again playable, now on PC via RPCS3
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/metal-gear-online-2-is-once-again-playable-now-on-pc-via-rpcs3/
While Konami took down the servers (and discontinued) Metal Gear Online 2, this online mode from Metal Gear Solid 4 is once again playable. However, Playstation owners will not be able to enjoy it. Instead, only PC gamers can experience Metal Gear Online 2 via the Playstation 3 emulator, RPCS3.
All you have to do is basically use the latest version of RPCS3 and download these two files (file 1 and file 2). Afterwards, you’ll have to create an account here. Then you’ll have to add MGO2 to the RPCS3 games’ list, launch and test the game.

Modders want to turn Valheim into a 1,000-player MMO
https://www.pcgamer.com/modders-want-to-turn-valheim-into-a-1000-player-mmo/
Valheim is a great game to solo, but it's even better with other players. Exactly how many other players might be changing drastically in the future, if one group of modders is able to bring their vision to life. VaLNGOS (I'm not sure how to pronounce that, but it stands for Valheim Large Network Game Object Server Suite) is a project that aims to turn the 10-player co-op survival game into an MMO capable of hosting over 1,000 players on the same server. It sounds ambitious, but the team behind it already hosts a custom server called Comfy Valheim that can apparently support up to 64 players at once, so maybe a thousand players isn't that all that far-fetched. I recently checked out Bannerlord Online, a mod that turns Mount and Blade 2 into a surprisingly functional 1,000-player MMO, so it seems like anything is possible.
>> They even have their own site: VaLNGOS.com.

Thursday news, the sequel:

Outriders players will get 'God Roll' replacements for lost inventories
https://www.pcgamer.com/outriders-players-will-get-god-roll-replacements-for-lost-inventories/
It's taken a long time and a lot of effort to squash the nasty Outriders bug that’s been wiping player inventories, but the patch deployed last week appears to be doing the job. Publisher Square Enix said today the update is "successfully deployed and continuing to prevent any further complete inventory wipes," and that means it can finally start working on other things, including inventory restorations.
The further good news, for a lot of players, is that the returned equipment will be in better shape—possibly much better shape—than when it was lost.

Call of Duty: Warzone's map just got nuked
https://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-warzones-nuke-event-is-busted/
Call of Duty: Warzone's long-awaited nuke event is underway. The Destruction of Verdansk event kicked off at 12 pm Pacific today with a massive 100-player survival mode against player-controlled zombies. The event culminates in a dramatic cutscene depicting the nuclear destruction of Verdansk, but many frustrated players are currently staring at a server queue trying to see it for themselves.

After the big nuke, Call of Duty: Warzone players are stuck on Rebirth Island
https://www.pcgamer.com/after-the-big-nuke-call-of-duty-warzone-players-are-stuck-on-rebirth-island/
Call of Duty: Warzone's Verdansk map just got nuked. You might have had trouble staying connected to the game long enough to see it for yourself, but all you really need to know is that zombies overran the map and the powers that be decided to solve the problem with a weapon of mass destruction.
Following the event, Verdansk will no longer be an option on Warzone's playlist selection. The only mode on offer, for now, is Rebirth Island Resurgence with a nighttime twist. The map opens with a message that reads "15 minutes after the destruction of Verdansk," and apparently the map now has a new location: the Control Center. You can't seem to do anything in there yet, but its appearance may be linked with the continued shenanigans that Activision is teasing for tomorrow.

Resident Evil 4 VR port has dual-wielding and will release this year
https://www.pcgamer.com/resident-evil-4-vr-port-has-dual-wielding-and-will-release-this-year/
Following last week’s brief reveal, Capcom has shed some new light on its forthcoming Resident Evil 4 VR port which, as we suspected, is an Oculus Quest 2 exclusive. The port appeared at today’s Oculus Games Showcase, and while the gameplay footage itself amounts to a stingy 30 seconds, some interesting details accompanied it.

New trailer for 40K FPS Necromunda: Hired Gun shows you'll be doing more than just shooting
https://www.pcgamer.com/new-trailer-for-40k-fps-necromunda-hired-gun-shows-youll-be-doing-more-than-just-shooting/
I wasn't fussed by the previous trailer for Necromunda: Hired Gun, a first-person shooter set in the mega-gritty Warhammer 40,000 universe. Wall-running, grapple-hooking, and an autogun that seems like a generic assault rifle didn't really sell me on it, though the pet cyber-mastiff attack dog was a nice touch. The latest trailer does a much better job making Hired Gun seem interesting because it lets us see a bit of what goes on between all the shootybang, knifeystab, and doggybite.

This game is about committing tax evasion as a turnip
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-game-is-about-committing-tax-evasion-as-a-turnip/
I love a slightly bonkers game as a palate cleanser every now and then, and Snoozy Kazoo's Turnip Boy Commits Tax evasion is exactly that. It's out on Steam today, and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a quick, snappy game full of humour.

Here's a brief, early scene from Life Is Strange: True Colors
https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-a-brief-early-scene-from-life-is-strange-true-colors/
The bulk of Life Is Strange: True Colors might take place in the achingly pastoral town of Haven Springs. But a new trailer gives our leading empath Alex a much colder welcome—and shows off some impressive facial capture in the process.

Call Of Duty: Warzone's new map was briefly playable in private lobbies
https://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-warzones-new-map-was-briefly-playable-in-private-lobbies/
Call Of Duty: Warzone just nuked Verdansk. But while most of us are still waiting for the battle royale's new map to drop, it seems some players were briefly able to sneak into the new arena via private games.
Eurogamer reports that the new map, dubbed 1984 Verdansk, was playable for a few hours earlier this morning. Raven eventually caught on and closed the loophole, but not before players were able to fully explore the latest iteration of Warzone's, well, warzone.

Teamfight Tactics could eventually break away from the League of Legends client
https://www.pcgamer.com/teamfight-tactics-could-eventually-break-away-from-the-league-of-legends-client/
Since launch, Teamfight Tactics has lived inside the League of Legends client as a nice little extra. But Riot has suggested that home may not be permanent, as the game grows beyond its MOBA spin-off roots.

Fortnite's first map can now be worn as an outfit
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnites-first-map-can-now-be-worn-as-an-outfit/
In Greek mythology, Atlas was condemned to bear the weight of the heavens, though is frequently depicted as carrying the globe on his shoulders. Now, you can replicate the titan's torment in Fortnite, with a new outfit that has you wearing the game's first island as a suit.

Oh, no! My brother dones't even have a Steam account! He uses a Macbook, the poor soul, that's why he takes advantage of my PC to game for a bit.

But even if I had thousands of games like some do (there's one with over 12000 games here in VGChartz), he would still taunt me saying that I have no games.

And thanks. I hope I don't screw anything when I build it this Saturday XD.
