Friday news, part two:
Dark Souls modder proves what every player knows: Bed of Chaos is outrageous BS
https://www.pcgamer.com/dark-souls-modder-proves-what-every-player-knows-bed-of-chaos-is-outrageous-bs/
I've been keeping an eye on a modder called King Bore, because they're working on a Dark Souls project called Shadow of the Eclipse that may turn out to be very cool, and recently they detailed some of their findings about the Bed of Chaos, and specifically the hitboxes.
Have you herd? Shelter 3 is out this month
https://www.pcgamer.com/have-you-herd-shelter-3-is-out-this-month/
An elephant never forgets its own release date. At least, I'm pretty sure that's how the saying goes. But in case your human brain forgets, a new trailer for Shelter 3 has scheduled the animal survival sequel's release for the end of the month—and this time, developer Might And Delight has gone big.

https://www.pcgamer.com/elite-dangerous-odysseys-alpha-takes-off-later-this-month/
Elite Dangerous: Odyssey is preparing to kick off its alpha testing on PC this month—and to get you prepared for footfall, Frontier has shown off extended gameplay footage of three pilots pulling off the (almost) perfect heist.
The Future Games Show is coming back this March with 40 new games
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-future-games-show-is-coming-back-this-march-with-40-new-games/
E3 was once able to contain an entire year's worth of major game announcements in a single week. But these days there are so many games, we get to feast on livestreams full of announcements year-round. In 2020 our sister site GamesRadar+ joined the E3 festivities by hosting the Future Games Show on June 13th, the same day as our own PC Gaming Show. This year, they're not waiting for summer—GamesRadar+ is bringing back the Future Games Show on March 25th (holy cow, that's soon) to feature more than 40 games.
Outriders demo patch will add a motion blur toggle and fix that annoying inventory crash bug
https://www.pcgamer.com/outriders-demo-patch-will-add-a-motion-blur-toggle-and-fix-that-annoying-inventory-crash-bug/
More than two million people have downloaded and played the demo for Outriders since its release a week ago, developer People Can Fly said in a post today, and so far it seems to have gone pretty well. The studio explained that the backend struggled to handle the load during the first few hours of release and some players were (and, as far as I know, still are) experiencing technical issues, but a patch is on the way that will hopefully address the worst of them, and tweaks and tuning to gameplay are also in the works.
Gorgeous anime fighter Guilty Gear Strive delayed due to reviled lobby system
https://www.pcgamer.com/gorgeous-anime-fighter-guilty-gear-strive-delayed-due-to-reviled-lobby-system/
Guilty Gear Strive is the next instalment in Arc System Works’ longrunning 2D fighter series, and it’s as pretty as usual—the studio did Dragon Ball FighterZ and Granblue Fantasy: Versus, after all. But a recent open beta test left a bad taste in some players’ mouths, with its online lobby system being the main point of criticism. As a result of player feedback, Arc System Works delayed Strive to June 11 from its planned April 9 launch.
I really want to play this city builder that gives you 30 minutes to escape the Earth
https://www.pcgamer.com/i-really-want-to-play-this-city-builder-that-gives-you-30-minutes-to-escape-the-earth/
I think of city builders as peaceful longform games—I could spend hours, even weeks, crafting my perfect little clockwork society, drawing roads and watching houses and shops pop up as it grows. They can be soothing, but there's also commitment there. Building a city is a slow process. That's why I'm so taken with the idea of indie city builder T-Minus 30, which completely upends the premise: You have 30 minutes to build a city and harvest enough resources to send your population into space before the dying Earth snuffs out whoever's left.
Blaster Master Zero 3 is the finale in the cult NES throwback trilogy
https://www.pcgamer.com/blaster-master-zero-3-is-the-finale-in-the-cult-nes-throwback-trilogy/
Blaster Master was a well-received oddity when it released for the NES back in 1988. It was a sidescrolling platformer starring a tank called SOPHIA, but you could also control its driver Jason, whose on-foot sections were played from a top down perspective. The series has so far spawned eight games across a bunch of platforms including Mega Drive/Genesis, PSX and Game Boy Colour, but Inti Creates’ 2017 reboot Blaster Master Zero is probably the jewel in the series’ crown, though its 2019 sequel was great too.
A third instalment in that modern series was announced overnight, in the form of Blaster Master Zero 3.
Producer on Hogwarts Legacy quits after history of anti-social justice videos exposed
https://www.pcgamer.com/producer-on-hogwarts-legacy-quits-after-history-of-anti-social-justice-videos-exposed/
Troy Leavitt has announced that he's resigned from his position at Avalanche Software. Leavitt was a producer on the forthcoming Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy, a game that has attracted controversy because of series creator J.K. Rowling's heel-turn into transphobia in recent years. The reputation of Hogwarts Legacy wasn't helped by the discovery Leavitt had been a reactionary YouTuber with a channel containing videos in defense of GamerGate, and critical of social justice and Anita Sarkeesian's Feminist Frequency series.
>> How ironic.
Before Your Eyes is an interactive afterlife you play by blinking
https://www.pcgamer.com/before-your-eyes-is-an-interactive-afterlife-you-play-by-blinking/
Is it a little cliché to say that life often passes by in the blink of an eye? Maybe, but I'll make an exception to talk about Before Your Eyes, a wildly novel narrative adventure game that only progresses when you shut your real, human eyelids.
Microsoft is aware of unresponsiveness issues on new Xbox controllers, fix in the works
https://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-xbox-controller-unresponsive-issue-fix/
Some people are having issues with the newest version of the Xbox Wireless Controller that launched alongside the Xbox Series X/S, whereby button taps sometimes go unregistered, even on PC. The good news is, Microsoft has acknowledged the problem, and is working on a fix of some sort.
Destiny 2's Trials have been disabled indefinitely over last week's match fixing exploits
https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2s-trials-of-osiris-mode-has-been-disabled-because-of-a-match-fixing-ring/
Destiny 2's competitive PVP mode, Trials Of Osiris, has been put on hold once more, after a community effort found a way to farm free flawless cards—reaching seven wins without taking a loss—using a mix of character-switching, dice-rolls, and a good old fashioned secret code.
Update: Bungie has put an indefinite hold on Destiny 2's Trials Of Osiris while it investigates last weekend's issues, the developer explained in its latest blog post.
"Last weekend, Trials of Osiris was disabled due to unexpected issues. While these issues are being investigated, Trials of Osiris will be unavailable to players. We will have more information when it becomes available."
Destiny 2's 12-player fun can stay for now, but Bungie says it: "didn’t create activities expecting a clown car of Guardians"
https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-players-are-glitching-into-raids-with-double-the-amount-of-players/
It's turning into quite the day for hilarious Destiny 2 matchmaking exploits. Hot on the heels of the Trials fixing emblem fiasco comes word of a somewhat more wholesome glitch. This one enables players to queue into certain PvE activities, including raids, with double the amount of players normally possible. In the case of raids, that means 12 guardians clapping alien cheeks simultaneously. As you can imagine, it makes encounters both much easier and hilariously chaotic.
Update: As of 4 March, Bungie says that the over-manned activities can stay for now. In the This Week at Bungie blog, it wrote: "The big buzz around the community this week has been players finding out a way to cram four fireteams in activities meant for one. We’ve been watching the 12-player raid hype and are glad you’re enjoying yourselves. We aren’t rushing out a fix for this and it’s totally fine if you want to try it out and have some fun. "
Apex Legends will soon let you solo queue, but don't expect a fair fight
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-will-soon-let-you-solo-queue-but-dont-expect-a-fair-fight/
We've all been there. You've just dropped into a match of Apex Legends, only to find one of your squadmates has sprinted off on their lonesome, ready to solo every other team on the battlefield—leaving the other two at a disadvantage. Fortunately, Apex will soon let these lone wolves queue up without hindering a team, but be warned—this isn't exactly a proper solos mode.
And these are the GOG and Steam deals for the weekend:
+GOG
+Steam
Are you not entertained? Anyway, I hope you all have a happy and gaming weekend.
