Wow, thanks for that link - I guess I'd need few clones of myself just to read through that all, let alone play all those games, but it seems like a great resource for finding out how good some of those old games are once I do find time to try out some of them.

I am reading the blog for years, so I'm mostly up to date. We recently tried to figure out how long the books would become (there's the idea to turn the blog into a series of books), and taken together, the posts would be longer than Dune or War and Peace, without the pictures of course.

I read few of his ratings on some games, and I really like how thoroughly he evaluates the games through categories. Really great resource, may he live long and prosper, so eventually he get to play them all.

Fallout: New California Version 2.2.2 available for download, fixes numerous bugs, full patch notes
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/fallout-new-california-version-2-2-2-available-for-download-fixes-numerous-bugs-full-patch-notes/
The team behind Fallout: New California, a massive mod that adds an all new story with hours of voiced dialogue, a new world, and multiple branching narrative paths, has released a new version of it. Fallout: New California is described as an unofficial prequel to New Vegas, and its latest version fixes numerous bugs.
For instance, patch 2.2.2 removes blocking condition from CH1 ALPHA terminal that was preventing force field power down option from showing, fixes a faction problem with switching sides from pipe works to Upper apartments, fixes the zombie firemen and their OP loot by removing them and more.

This Sekiro easy mode mod lets you cheat not only the game, but yourself
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-sekiro-easy-mode-mod-lets-you-cheat-not-only-the-game-but-yourself/
There was plenty of capital-D discourse about the fixed difficulty level in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice when the game came out. For instance, Tom Senior had some choice words for the Guardian Ape. Like all FromSoft games, it's what you might call a bit of a challenge, even with a few allowances to modern game design thrown into the mix. Now there's a new mod that scales that difficulty back a bit.
This one, called Sekiro the Easy, makes some key changes to the game's mechanics so "you can play the Sekiro happily," according to modder Tender Box. In addition to buffing player attack power, defense strength, and stamina, Sekiro the Easy also gives you infinite Spirit Emblems, which allows you to use your Shinobi Prosthetic abilities as often as you want. It also removes the time limit on the Puppeteer Ninjutsu, meaning you can take control of an enemy and then conceivably take a nap.
>> This mod is also available from Nexus Mods.

Fans keep turning Fallout 2 into an MMO
https://www.pcgamer.com/fans-keep-turning-fallout-2-into-an-mmo/
Fan projects like Fallout: New California and Fallout 4: New Vegas get plenty of attention for overhauling the recent entries in the Fallout series, but the classic, turn-based Fallout RPGs also have passionate modding communities, and one of them really, really wants Fallout 2 to be an MMO. They iterated on the idea several times before Bethesda ever explored multiplayer itself with Fallout 76.
The latest Fallout 2 MMO project is called FOnline 3, descendant of FOnline 2, FOnline Reloaded, and FOnline Aftertimes. Each are based on the FOnline system which uses resources from Fallout 2. (In an effort to avoid a copyright notice, the creators insist that you own a copy of Fallout 2 before downloading an FOnline project, which you absolutely should—it's on Steam and GOG)

GhostWire: Tokyo first in-game look
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/ghostwire-tokyo-first-in-game-look/
GhostWire: Tokyo is an “action-adventure game in which you’ll fight paranormal enemies and rid the city of supernatural evil”, as Shinji Mikami described. I am a big fan of Mikami’s work, even if The Evil Within games did not exactly hit the spot, at least for me. Though I will admit the second game was much better.

Stone Story RPG finds a new way to craft a world out of ASCII art
https://www.pcgamer.com/stone-story-rpg-finds-a-new-way-to-craft-a-world-out-of-ascii-art/
ASCII art has a special place in my heart. There was usually some kind of ASCII drawing at the top of game FAQs, and sometimes one would greet you as you fired up a game from DOS. Stone Story RPG channels that look and feel into a much more modern, yet still throwback, roleplaying game, and it's coming to Steam in August.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a different butterfly with Fortnite's newest skins

You know, not every new skin that lands in Fortnite's in-game store feels like a winner. If it isn't some variation of military garb, it's clothes that make your avatar look like they just rolled out of bed. Not so with the Flutter and Pillar skins, both of which bring out the creepy-crawly in the battle royale phenomenon.

Respawn Entertainment recently shared some information into what it's doing to combat the ever-present problem of cheating in Apex Legends. The new "Check-In," posted to Reddit, is light on specifics, but it reveals some big-picture insights into what's being done to check people who are more interested in winning than in how they play the game.

Where the Water Tastes Like Wine gets new Chinese-American stories
https://www.pcgamer.com/where-the-water-tastes-like-wine-gets-new-chinese-american-stories/
Where the Water Tastes Like Wine is an ambitious journey through the heartland of American history that unfortunately failed to live up to those ambitions, and is best remembered these days for being a "commercial disaster." Despite that, a new update for the game called Gold Mountain was released today that adds full Chinese localization to the free Fireside Chats, and new stories based on the experiences of Chinese immigrants.

Destiny 2 players have figured out how to farm resources without playing the game

An ambitious GTA Online-alike won't be allowed to finish its Kickstarter campaign
https://www.pcgamer.com/an-ambitious-gta-online-alike-had-its-kickstarter-campaign-suspended/
Kickstarter has suspended the crowdfunding campaign for an extremely ambitious GTA Online-like MMO roleplaying game called RAW, which hit its funding goal two weeks ago. The problem was that the developers were only asking for $79,000. (For comparison, GTA 5's development costs have been estimated at $137 million.)

CD Projekt talks about Cyberpunk 2077 roleplaying options and 'lifepaths'
https://www.pcgamer.com/cd-projekt-talks-about-cyberpunk-2077-roleplaying-options-and-lifepaths/
Cyberpunk 2077 is first and foremost a roleplaying game, and you can't have an RPG without skills, stats, and specializations, right? Quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz emphasized the importance of those attributes, and the way players shape them throughout the game, in a new video update in which he also touched on the impact of "lifepaths" chosen by players.

Borderlands 3's Celebration of Togetherness was a goofy trailer reveal
https://www.pcgamer.com/borderlands-3s-celebration-of-togetherness-was-a-goofy-trailer-reveal/
We were intrigued last week when the official Borderlands 3 Twitter account posted an invitation to a "Celebration of Togetherness" scheduled for today. There was even a card, formally listing the date and time as "Tuesday, July the Sixteenth, seven o'clock in the morning Pacific Time." Fans speculated it might be an announcement of cross-play, which Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford quickly clarified it was not.

Tetris Effect is coming to PC as an Epic Games Store exclusive

Tetris Effect is an award-winning puzzle game based on the timeless Soviet block-dropper Tetris, that was released in 2018 exclusively for the PlayStation 4, with support for PlayStation VR. It's so good that it topped our end-of-year list of five VR games we want to see on PC. As of July 23, it will be.

You just gotta hate Randy Pitchford and games journalists with no balls. His tweet is nothing but bullshit and leaves open every single possible option, including that there will never be any cross play. Yet here are the news sites claiming that there will definitely be crossplay.

Sony won't allow it, as it almost never does, and MSoft probably will because they've done it before. Nothing new.

Sony probably will allow it, they've changed their tune on crossplay with other consoles. Fortnite, Rocket League, Dauntless and the upcoming CoD all support full crossplay on ps4.

And that's all of those who do. 4 games, and those are mostly unlocked due to backlash hurting them or fear over backlash if they don't allow it. If they really would have changed their minds then many more games would be able to be played cross-play and it wouldn't even be up in the air by the time of his tweet.

In other words, Crossplay for Borderlands 3 isn't anything near approved by Sony.

"mostly unlocked due to backlash hurting them or fear over backlash" - If you believe that's the reason, why do you think they'd stop with Borderlands 3?

"If they really would have changed their minds then many more games would be able to be played cross-play" - It's a new thing, and crossplay games don't release that often, but if you can name a game that's released in the past few months that doesn't support crossplay on ps4 but does on other consoles let me know.

Crossplay for Borderlands 3 will almost certainly be approved by Sony. Why do you think they held out for so long on the Fortnite thing? Because they knew once they accepted one game they'd have to accept them all. You can't just stop.

Because outside of the next CoD, they waited for the backlash to happen, tried to sit it out, and only when they saw that wasn't working were they actually acting on it. Borderlands 3 might get crossplay down the line, but that will only be in a couple months after tons of players and pretty much all major media outlets called them out upon.

I checked, and not many multiplayer titles released this spring, and those who did didn't have any crossplay feature at all, though MK11 intends to implement crossplay later down the road, and it will be interesting if PS4 is included or not.
