Just saw this "How Does Buying Digital Games Work on Xbox One?" article on IGN, did not even read, just thought to myself: "here it comes, more crap".

Then I realise: Microsoft is in a VERY GOOD situation: everybody is so pessimistic about them after all that Xbox One reveal disaster that there is no place to go but up.

Everything positive they say in E3 will sound like a uncanny blessing from the skyes.

Sony may profit from the MS mistakes, but, if the name of the game is profit, the future is also looking pretty good for MS.

Some of the hardcore gamers will jump ship to Sony, but the casual Call of Duty/Fifa gamers will embrace Xbox One like always, and they are strong in numbers, make no mistake. 

Also, the SUPER casual will flock like sheep to the Kinect 2, which is also a sure bet if you want to make a quick buck.

And, last, but not least, the NON-GAMERS will want the TV-Sports-Go-Home stuff, not all of them, but, enough to give MS another healthy source of income.

That said, MS may have angered SOME of the gaming comunity, but, profit is as sure as rain in the company future.

If marketing was that easy, you would see companies and people make controversial statements all the time and then retract them to make people happy.

No, once you got backlash and a reputation it's hard to remove from people's memory.

Ubisoft abandoned their DRM but they're still remembered as the always online DRM-guys.

EA removed this online pass thing but I believe people are still suspicious of their next move.

your high go home! no but seriously, people arent going to shell out 400 plus for a kinect 2, the Kinect wasnt that popular. THis isnt going to be the Wii not even close

I agree with everything else.

Except that all of my gamer friends who are definitely not core, many of which just buy for their kids have read the DRM reports on various news outlets and are already not interested in XBone. This was before even talking to me about and of course I just emphasized that they need to skip it.

The SUPER Casual.. That's a new one. Can't wait to hear about the ULTRA casual.

A can't see anyone buying into this DRM anti-consumer mess ofa console. Just think, if even us nerds are up in arms about it, many of whom willingly shells out THOUSANDS of dollars on gaming a year, imagine how the average consumer is going to react to the DRM stuff. There is no way this thing sells well. 20 million lifetime for Xbone IMO, going below even the original Xbox.

Unlike most people, I'm not yet dismissing Xbox One as a hardcore gaming console. I will only do so if the majority of the 15 upcoming exclusives turn out to be lame Kinect titles.

Profit has been the name of the game for decades... well centuries.

Don't give a shit about their profits. As long as everyone can agree that the bone loses as a games console then it's fine.

(of course they can still turn around that ship)

There is nothing that speaks against the Xbox One as a gaming console.

Specs are good, Xbox Live seems to be a beast next gen, 1st party support is better than ever with 15 exclusives, 3rd party support will be great with EA AND Activision preferring MS next gen, Kinect 2 looks like a great device for multimedia and casual gamers, ESPN, Canal+, Sky, NFL will cover sports fans worldwide...

I think this is one of the main reason people talk about this DRM stuff this much - there is not much left to hate on.
