Social welfare is bad.
Corporate welfare is good.

Good sense and spirit of a nation.

Unfortunately some people actually believe just that as they don't seem to want to think for themselves. People like Ann Coulter most certainly hold back progress

Why do some Americans hate the Mexicans or any Hispanics so much? It's like you have to speak English to be American, despite the huge ethnic melting pot which is what makes America

Well yeah... everyone should have to speak English to be American.  Having a nation without one common universal language is insane.

Imagine you are an Emergency worker trying to get people to evacuate and  4 speak English, 3 of them speak only spanish, 2 speak portuges, 3 aramaic and 4 more Bantu.

Or just in general the costs of translating EVERYTHING into dozens of different languages.

One thing generally missed as well, is that illegal aliens are counted in the official census numbers... so our legal immigration numbers shrink.  Poorer people from Africa and Asia essentially get screwed just because they don't live right next to a rich country.

Yeah but Americans don't even speak the native language anyway. The native way of things was destroyed from this back when you the USA gained independence. So who you find are "aliens" is funny, as the english speaking Americans are "aliens" anyway at least if you are a true native from before when the Europeans came over, 400 years ago.

But back to the point, who even decided English to be the official language? Historically, only the 13 eastern states which the USA formed on in 1776 spoke English, the rest wasn't even related but was taken anyway within time. Spanish, French, Russians and small enclaves of Dutch are just some of the language found out there. Having, one language does make things easier but you shouldn't just force people to speak it, especially when the USA is really a multi-language country.

Also, i find it very bigoted to call immigrants "aliens", they are people you know! I mean you say language is the issue, but from what i hear from American media at times, race is the problem here. It's like traits of the KKK and issues from how the black community used to be treated still exist in some kind of way in today's American extremist conservatives.

As i said before America is a melting pot of ethnicities, surely that is a good thing.

And you never answered my original question, why do Americans hate Mexicans so much?

But obviously limiting immigration a little makes sense but people shouldn't target certain ethnic groups, that's all

A) The US government decided English would be the language spoken... because it was the most spoken language, it was that or German... and regardless it doesn't change the fact that a national language needs to be spoken.... and since English happens to be the international language of Buisness....

It's the superior choice in language.  If you were inventing a fictional country today, English would be the language you would want to speak.

B) People don't hate mexicans.  Most people hate illegal immigration because it cuts through American's sense of fair play... because people are essentially jumping a line in coming to the US when that immigration could be going to people in africa, asia etc..   Additionally since they aren't here legally it tends to cause all kinds of problems as these people often can't comunicate in english and in general end up not assimilating which is important to a lot of people.

Often times illegal immigrants are used to work under the table and pay them below minium wage pricing out poor wokers in manual labor.  Which is a big reason illegal immigration continues.  Buisnsesses get cheap, cheaper then minium wage workers.

To put it another way... Liberal leftwing people should have an issue with illegal immigration because it ultiamtly hurts diversity, while forcing the people who chose to come here illegally to live as second class citizens who can't even rely on police protection let alone the social saftey net because they are afraid to be found out.  When if people couldn't come here illegal, those people would be replaceed with immigrants from mexico, africa, asia and the middle east who get to live as full citizens, be paid a full wage and be eligable for all programs americans are available to have.

a) I understand, i would pick English just as i happen to speak it. And i would say it was by chance, English became a language of business as England was the first industrialised country and so naturally spoke that and due to our influence as superpower back in the day. People saw they would make more money if they could easily trade with us. I just wonder if the Chinese would change that, more than enough people speak that language.

b) Maybe when those areas become wealthier people will want to move to Africa or Asia but obviously people go where the jobs and wealth are. Currently, most of that is still in the west.

Also, i understand alot of the problems with illegal migrants but how do we stop that? Once they are in, they are impossible to find and become apart of society quite quickly much of the time. Stuff like language issues and expoiltative wages are not simple to fix, they are complex problems that have no quick fix.

As a socialist, i tend to accept immigration as something that benefits far more than it has negatives. Especially, if they bring essential skills that are needed in the country (i believe Australia does immigration that way) Not that i approve of unlimited immigration which has a problem for the UK for the last 10 years. It's hard to say whether illegal immigration should be considered as apart of immigration overall or not or a problem in itself. Immigration is something i question alot, as the current system is so flawed here.

How do you find these illegals and what would we do with them?

How would we ensure a fair system for those who come legally?

How would we integrate migrants in with the rest of society, so they can benefit the economy?

How would we know how many to let in each year to do not overload our services?

A) Tons of people speak Mandarin.  (China actually has multiple kinds of "chinese")   However, the problem is... they're all Chinese.  So English has a large systematic advantage in that it's essentially spoken by large populations in every country.  Outside which, India is growing with China... and they pretty much all speak English.

B)  It seems your problem with people against illegal immigration is mostly based ony your ignornace of peoples positions against illegal immigration, since most people against illegal immigration would agree with everything you've said.

The vast majority of the anti-immigration movement isn't like europe and it's "No muslims allowed" policies.

In America, they simply want people coming here by following the rules.
