Forums - Sony - Boy is Sony's PlayStation Vita in for a Brilliant year

To join in on the downer parade... it's worth noting Sony cut their forecasts KNOWING they were going to cut prices. So they clearly aren't expecting a 180 turnaround.

A modest improvement that will be built opon the year after is what should be targeted as a realistic optimistic viewpoint.

I need that price drop here in the US. $200 is the perfect price for the Vita. Even if the memory card is expensive, I'll make it work but I really want to purchase a Vita.

No...

Honestly, they needed a worldwide price cut. They really did. Seriously, the 3DS continually outsells the Vita in Japan, to the point where even a price cut probably won't be able to dent that momentum, and that's the price cut area? How about Europe, where the Vita is at it's highest market share for handhelds between it and the 3DS? (85.2% to 14.8%, granted, but still...) Give the bloody Euros some love and they'd have a better chance of making the mark they want to, since Europe tends to be a very Sony-centric land.

A Japan only price cut feels...actually kind of desperate, honestly.

A full fledged Gran Turismo and GTA would do wonders.

Quote of the day!

"It has addressed every criticism that people had been levelling at the console in the past year"

Except the most important one: the butt rape that is the memory card prices.

Looks like Im buying a Vita this year.

Sony still needs to do more.

Why all the downers? There was a poll in Japan recently where 68% said they want to buy a Vita this year. That alone was good news. This announcement of a price reduction and new games is just what the doctor ordered for more sales in Japan, so why are you not agreeing with this op?
