Why are you comparing two totally different notebooks? Comparing the prices of the two (and trying to get similar specs) at apple.com and the sony store, I got this:

15.4" 2880 x 1800 IPS display vs. 13.1" 1920 x 1080 IPS display

RAM and HDD: Both have 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD at these configurations

Battery: 7hrs vs 6hrs 45min

Weight: 4.46lbs vs. 2.58lbs

So adding the cheapest option for the extra graphics power on the Sony would put the price comparison at $2199 MBP vs $2249 Vaio Z. To make it fair (since adding the dock will give the Vaio Z a DVD burner as well you can add $79 for the Apple USB Superdrive as well. $2278 MBP vs $2249 Vaio Z. Pretty similar afterall, you get a more portable laptop in the Vaio (15" vs 13" it's to be expected) and with the MBP you get a faster cpu, much better gpu and a bigger and much higher resolution screen.

I don't hate Apple, I just think their products are ridiculously overpriced. That's not hate, that's truth.

It's just another one of those chucklehead things that doesn't make any logical sense. Like their need to post about ridiculous Internet memes 26,000 times after they have become annoyingly old. In the case of Apple, the chuckleheads actually think they're on a meaningful crusade; What do they hope to achieve? They think that somehow their irrational hate-filled ignorant Internet posts on gaming forums will topple the company valued at 632 billion $USD. The anti-Apple Chuckleheads are more or less as pointless and counter-productive to society as a right-winged group that would protest against organizations dedicated to restoring natural habitats in areas where it was destroyed by human industry and pollution.

They sued Samsung fro having phones that has curved sides. Apparently you have to patent it. Competition is good but monopolizing and undermining is different.

- Their products are WAY overpriced
- They are patent trolls
- They go out of their way to close their systems down as much as possible for the user and developers. Who do they think they are that they think they can dictate what I can and cannot do with my own property?

So yea, I neither like their products nor their corporate philosophy. That doesn't mean I hate them, since hate is quite a strong word, but I certainly don't like them. If they'd cause a huge oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico or it turns out the production process of a MacBook includes crushing a box full of orphaned kittens, then I'd hate them even though I don't own any of their stuff. Right now they're just as unappealing as it gets, but as long as they don't mess with the stuff I do own and I am free to ignore anything they make, like a 5000$ computer that might as well been made by Fisher-Price, then they can keep doing what they do.

Why is this unbelievable? When was the last time Apple admitted to doing anything wrong, or poorly, or badly?  Probably the last time they did that was when the Jobs-less Apple admitted the screwed up by ousting Jobs and begged him to return, which for Apple was probably the best decision Anyone at Apple not called Jobs ever made. Apple products are magical, it's your fault if you can't get it to work.

For me I feel duty bound to dislike Apple because it's taken on a cargo cult status. That shit's got to be taken down. When somone writes that Apple's 32 pin thingy lasting 10(?) years is proof of Apple's superior and beautiful engineering, when the 32 pin thingy is actually a Motorola development, then you know it's your duty to smack the koolaid out of these people's hands. Tough love and all that.

I have a default dislike of all mega-multinationals, Sony included. There isn't one that's got to where they are because they've been honest, ethical and trustworthy citizens, quite the opposite in fact. They're all psychopathic evil shits, but most of them are necessary psychopathic evil shits at this point in time. I wish it were otherwise and I hope our future is one where psychopathic evil shit corporations aren't part of our civilisation. Apple just happens to be psychopathic evit shit du jour at the moment. Once they start falling back to the pack, and they will eventually, everyone does, another psychopathic evil shit will rear it's ugly head (but with a glamour making itself look beautiful and cool and sexy) and become the object of plebian devotion and derision in roughly equal measure. I just hope I have the presence of mind not to get sucked into it.

Yes, I got sucked in by Sony when they were the cool one. But that was when I was young and naive. Now Sony's fallen back to the pack, and then some, so I fell like I can keep throwing them a bone because they don't deserve to die any more than any of the other psychopathic evil shits.

And don't pretend Nintendo isn't a psychopathic evil shit either. They are, they got beaten down by the Sony monster, but the Nintendo monster is still lying in wait hoping it will get it'smonopolistic once chance again.

Google are sort of there, but this court case might have stopped them from beating Apple down and taking their place as the reigning psychopathic evil shit. It's a sad thing that I am exclusively Android with my phones only because of the even greater evil shitness of the alternatives. I wish I could get a great phone OS that wasn't from one of the 3 the biggest evil shits arond at the moment. I'd like to try a Linux phone but they are impossible to get here, no mobile carrier supports Linux phones. Android is Linux somewhat shackled so it's the least bad option. Blackberry is just rubbish, and still over priced, so I can't go there.

Well SuperChunk pretty much covered all bases on why I dislike Apple. I don't hate them or anything, just don't see what all the fuss is about. I will reiterate what was said about iTunes i.e. it blows. Take pretty much any other music player from any competing brand and you'll have a much easier time syncing all your music to it than to an iPod. People say Apple products are user friendly, iTunes says Good afternoon , good evening and good night.

You can be tired of it... but that doesn't make it any less true... and is the biggest reason.

In general we're talking about an inferior product hardware wise of the same price.

Nevermind the HUGE gaming dispairty on Mac vs PC.   Some groups are closing it, but it's still an ocean.

This is a huge tech based website.   Essentially this is like going on a website talking about discussing the classics of literature and the new american classics, and asking why there is such an uneven and larger amount of hate for the Twighlight Books.

It's just a total different criteria of value.
