I was a Nintendo fanboy for ages, I never only owned a Nintendo console but it was my main gaming source until the PS1. I started to play both equally, then GC/PS2 came and I slowly started gaming almost only on PS2. Now with this gen I got a Wii/PS3 and sold the Wii when it was high in value, I also barely played it, and now I only own a PS3.
Here are the reasons I no longer hang with Nintendo.
- They rely too much on their core brands. Mario is cool, Samus is an awesome female lead (the only one I can actually respect and enjoy playing), ect. but I want something new. I know people eat up new Mario games, it just feels like they have nothing new to offer, they are to scared to try a new character, and tell me they are running out of creativity. The best they can do now is remake Super Mario Bros., and never stop. Anything that is creative they put in something for nostalgia, like Kirby's Epic Yarn. It sucks seeing Nintendo so scared, they have no faith in their creative games and it shows.
I'm having trouble believing in them when they don't believe in me.
- I didn't like the Wiimote. It never felt right, even when demoing Skyward Sword I can see it's just as limited as Twilight Princess. The wire from the nunchuck to the mote is to short for me, when I swing it I tug the chuck out of my hand. I know, I don't have to swing it and i can use a classic controller, but if I do that then whats the point of even having a Wii? It also sucks when everything has to be plugged into the mote.
Making it wireless like the Move and Nav would make a big difference for me. Also making it more 1:1.
Those are my two biggest gripes with them. More innovative, original games, and a completely wireless controller.
