Forums - Gaming - HD Twin fans: What would make you buy a Nintendo Console?

A sufficient amount of exclusives that I want to play, which will be hard given that I don't care about the likes of Mario or Zelda and Nintendo hasn't shown any incentive to create a new IP for the last decade.

Nintendo won't expand their hardcore audience by releasing the same exclusives over and over again. Those people who like them are already part of the audience and those who don't will just keep staying away.

I was a Nintendo fanboy for ages, I never only owned a Nintendo console but it was my main gaming source until the PS1. I started to play both equally, then GC/PS2 came and I slowly started gaming almost only on PS2. Now with this gen I got a Wii/PS3 and sold the Wii when it was high in value, I also barely played it, and now I only own a PS3.

Here are the reasons I no longer hang with Nintendo.

- They rely too much on their core brands. Mario is cool, Samus is an awesome female lead (the only one I can actually respect and enjoy playing), ect. but I want something new. I know people eat up new Mario games, it just feels like they have nothing new to offer, they are to scared to try a new character, and tell me they are running out of creativity. The best they can do now is remake Super Mario Bros., and never stop. Anything that is creative they put in something for nostalgia, like Kirby's Epic Yarn. It sucks seeing Nintendo so scared, they have no faith in their creative games and it shows.

I'm having trouble believing in them when they don't believe in me.

- I didn't like the Wiimote. It never felt right, even when demoing Skyward Sword I can see it's just as limited as Twilight Princess. The wire from the nunchuck to the mote is to short for me, when I swing it I tug the chuck out of my hand. I know, I don't have to swing it and i can use a classic controller, but if I do that then whats the point of even having a Wii? It also sucks when everything has to be plugged into the mote.

Making it wireless like the Move and Nav would make a big difference for me. Also making it more 1:1.

Those are my two biggest gripes with them. More innovative, original games, and a completely wireless controller.

Why dont you pick up an HD concel and understand what appeals to us.

I own an HD console, as a Nintendo fan. I'm not in a place where I own an HD console and not a Nintendo console, hence why I'm asking. Please stop being negative.

Well sorry for my tone

Anyways back on topic how about add a proper online account with usernames to the list.

I don't think anything will make me buy one at this point.

I recently watched a gameplay preview for Resident Evil 6 and instead of being excited like I expected I was instead underwhelmed because of the graphics. That's not to say the game looks bad, it obviously has high production values, it just takes away from being blown away because there's no major leap in graphics from the previous game.

I expect that to be the same situation with the WiiU and why it'll be the first Nintendo console that won't lure me to buy it because of a game (I bought a N64 because of Goldeneye, Gamecube because of Resident Evil 4, and a Wii because of my girlfriend - who hasn't shown much interest in WiiU).

It wasnt the graphics that turned me off, it was the animations. The chick and her bodygaurd have the same running/jumping animations. For the amount of devs working on this, it was surprising and depressing to see that.
