I have only played 3 or 4 point and click games in the 29 years that i have been a gamer....... (not my genre)

However....... out of those few i have played, one stands head and shoulders above the rest........

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars.

Excellent game, fantastic story from start to finish, i can't reccomend it highly enough.

I love playing point on click adventures on my Wii since I can sit on my couch or do chores while I comtemplate what to do next. This is certainly one of the best available on the Wii (also consider Secret Files/Sam & Max/Moneky Island(ww)).

However as mentioned it's available cheaper and controls better (although it's absolutely fine on Wii except for a couple points where the object you need is so small it's very easy to miss on your TV/with Wii controls). It is a 12 year old game after all. The Wii version does offer a little extra content but it's really up to your personal preference on what system to go with.

If you like point and clicks, this is a classic and shouldn't be missed.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Just won a new copy via eBay for $15.99 USD which INCLUDES shipping costs. Another game to add to my library.

You'll enjoy it if you like these kinda games.

Seeing as this is a thread about point and click adventures... Did anyone here ever play Simon the Sorceror?

Broken Sword is a great game, even by today's standards. I originally played and loved the PS1 version. Recently I played the DS version which has a few extra scenes (Although the lack of voice acting on DS version dissappointed seeing as The PS1 version had voice acting). Not sure if wii has voice acting, it really brought the story to life imo.

Of course. Played Simon 1 and 2 in 1993/95 and just recently again. Available Windows 7 compatible on GOG and GOG for 6 bucks each.

Both are very good and funny games.

This game is Fucking French... just so you aren't surprised when you start playing. I got it for like $6 or $7 last month so I'm kinda sorry that you paid double. It's still a good deal though. Have Fun. :)

Broken Sword is the best point and clock game ever. The original release only.

The Director's Cut is the original with some stuff altered, poor audio and crappy sections controlling a character you never originally controlled and who isn't funny like the actual star of Broken Sword. It also has these blue rings appear near anything interactive, ruining a very major point of fun in the game in discovering/working out stuff yourself. You cannot turn them off.

In short, the Director's Cut is shit.

A few posts up I wrote: "Some consider Broken Sword 1 (Shadow of the Templars) the very best adventure game they ever played, e.g. at least two VGChartz members as far as I remember."

Yes, KylieDog is one of them.

You don't need to listen to him as you don't know the original version and wouldn't know the difference anyway. The Director's Cut (your version) is not bad at all, the additions are just a bit disappointing and redundant for many who know the original game. That's why I recommend to anyone who's interested in the game primarily the PC version on GOG.com as it contains the original version of the game as a bonus.
