I agree with Smashchu2.

Right now 3DS has the 3rd party support and the first party, on the DS-PSP the things was more third party efforts to PSP and Nintendo dominated on DS. As things are right now it's too risk for Sony to develop a PSP2, i mean, what can they do to be different enought and still make developer interested on work on their platform.

Simple answer, unhackable download only device with no piracy. And second analog.

Download only??? You really think that will be succesfull??

It's the only way to go in the future, whetever you want it or not, it will happend. And given the time and capabilities of todays devices, I'd say we are on the edge right now. IPhone is successful with controled download only solution and people don't mind that (enough of them), so the only difference would be the size of the transfer. And it's the only way to make sure there is no piracy. And no used games market. There is more, just think about it, it doesn't have a single negative aspect for the publisher. And if it sucks for the customer (which doesn't) than too bad.

Judging by what i saw yesterday, unless PSP2 is radically different when it is announced it will be DOA when it launches.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

What I want to know is what will do they with the psp 2.

Seriously what will they do now? Make a psp with more controls and better graphics? How will that be successful?  3ds is getting huge 1st party line up and 3rd party. I mean it has resident evil and MGS. That tells you something. Putting it HD will kill 3rd party support. If I'm correct the psp is as strong as the ps2. If they make a HD handheld they lost 3rd party support. They can relase one but what they'll do is the big mystery here

Smashchu2 you are even better analyst than Pachter, with your brilliant logical thinking you could make him your bitch at Wedbush. No just kidding, you might bring him a coffe and papers if you work a little harder. Seriously no clue

Then may I ask why my analysis is wrong?

@kowenicki Yes, perhaps that is a possibility.

There are several reasons and I won't go into all of them, but just the first and most basic (broken) will be pointed out.

Nintendo acquiring 3rd party support (which they had this generation all along) doesn't mean that Sony is losing it. It's allways easier making ports or derivative games from home consoles than building from ground up for dual screen 3D device. So unless the PSP2 will copy the 3DS toe to toe, it will have games. And even than, multiplatforms say hello.

It's called 3rd party support for a reason and as long as you can provide some userbase, you won't be left out. So the only exclusives you can count on are Nintendo's and Sony's 1st party studios can fight them just fine.

it's wrong, because you didn't say "disruption"

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

The problem is that companies can not infinate games. They can only make some. If 3DS is getting a lot of support, including multiple games from one company, then they can not get that many games. Sony requires that, in order to stay on top, they get the AAA games from third parties, but now they have to compete with the 3DS over games. Since the 3DS had 2/3 of the market, where do you think the games are going to go? Sony also doesn't have strong 1st party software (theirs is very weak as the best selling PS3 games are third party).

Multiplatform works against Sony as now there is no difference between the two save for their price and other games. If Nintendo can make the best 1st party games (the ones to drive momentum) they will always win if we have porting.

er what does that have to do with anything...

how many sales do you think you need to be "one of the most successful ANDROID phones in Europe"?

1 million perhaps?

Especially as the X1 was not an Android phone.... Maybe he means the X10, which is awesome btw

Anyway, of course they will make a PSP2. Yeah, the 3DS has a great line-up, but there are still plenty of people who aren't intrested in those games, they want PlayStation franchises with lovely graphics, and an experience closer to a console {okay, there may not be that many, but there is me!}

yes thank you for correcting me, the X10 from sony
