Forums - Gaming Discussion - so what if microsoft DIDN'T waste money... GTA dlc

I think Microsoft should have put that money on a full exclusive game instead, Rockstar would probably release some sort of dlc anyway.

so many half-informed people... Ugh.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

Ok, enough of this crap. All of you saying it was a loan, please give me a link. Everyone always says it was a loan, and that the $50M directly funding the episodes was a rumor. You all have things backwards, because, as I posted in the another thread, the $50M DIRECTLY funded both episodes, and NOWHERE has Rockstar EVER said that it was a loan that they had to pay back.

You all just made that up to make it seem less moneyhattey

Edit: and what's worse, it's being said amongst MANY as if it's true. If you search "$50 million loan GTA 4" in google, it's ALL user comments, when the term "loan" comes up, but NEVER a comment from Take Two, Rockstar, or Microsoft

Edit2: damn, I see the same comments on Joystiq, Kotaku, teamxbox, GameTrailers, etc.....all of which one either says "wasn't that $50M a loan" or a response saying "I've said this so many times: IT WAS A LOAN!" Am I kicking a dead horse? So what? Straight up giving $50M and loaning $50M are two different things, and all the proof points towards the former for Microsoft, meaning, yes, they wasted money if it just ended up on the PS3 anyway. Especially, since they could have published 5 games the caliber of Gears of War with that money

Quote from a Wired interview with Mark Rein: We spent less than $10 million to make Gears of War. Somewhere between nine and ten million dollars.

Wow I never realized so many half witted people on the intranetZ don't know what they are talking about and try to pass their lack of knowledge as facts.

"Next-Gen contacted Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter, who further explained the deal. "What Microsoft did was pay a $50 million advance," he said, much in the same way a big-name author receives a payment in advance of his or her next book."

"If revenues don't meet that figure, Take-Two will have to return some of the advance, according to Pachter. But he said that there's no reason to believe Take-Two would actually miss that revenue target."

MS paid for the DLC to get made, be exclusive for a year and got their money back, one way or another. Now PS3 owners get to enjoy this game. Mission acomplished for all.  Lets move on.

Well MS moneyhatting worked on me. I bought the GTA 4 for 360 on the promise of the exclusive DLC. A year later, and I haven't made a real dent in the game. I guess I can't get into it for some reason. Too much realism? It felt better when I was playing Vice City on the PS2 for some reason.

I'd trust Pachter unless you have a link which quotes take two employee saying "Microsoft paid 50 million for this DLC and we got to fuck them royaly!"

MS management ain't no fool to waste money like that...they are infact considered one of the best management companies out there. they could have easily bought full timed GTA4 exclusivity for 50 million.

Why does Microsoft spent so much money on timed exclusives? Bioshock, GTA DLC, Ninja Gaiden, JRPG'S, Fallout 3 DLC, CoD MW 2 DLC? They could've made/bought some real AAA exclusives with that money which would've also attracted some new people to buy 360's.
