Forums - Nintendo Discussion - RUMOR - Friend Codes being ditched on Wii

This depends. Was this podcast the same tone we've been hearing from them about the Wii recently?

If so, then it could just be wishful thinking.

Nintendo getting a grasp at the 21st century? *gasp*

So by not following the PC model for online multiplayer, they are stuck in the 20th century?

I think the 20th century is too advanced for friend codes.  I think Nintendo is stuck in the stone ages by using friend codes.  It is as cumbersome and backward as communicating via drums

Well for all you non "PC" gamers I will explain how much of a pain in the butt it is to add people on STEAM. Which has become the inspiration for the console online models. Steam allows you to change your "Name" to anything you want. However, they will only link 1 name to your account. If that name is already in use you require a different name. When your account is created you can put in a second name which is how you will then be seen by everyone on Steam. If you give people this new name to add to their friends list. It won't find you in it's system. You have to either use your original name or your e-mail address to add friends which is a huge joke. I just had an awful time over the holidays trying to add my brother to the system. So be careful what you wish for. In comparison the Wii system code is a hell of a lot easier to add. Everyone has a phone number that's unique. The wii system code is very much like a phone number. I prefer to use a # over a login any day. I just don't want to add a new number for every game.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Currently playing: MAG, Heavy Rain, Infamous

Getting Plat trophies for: Heavy Rain, Infamous, RE5,  Burnout and GOW collection once I get it.

Why can't they give us what we really want ? They should just give us gamer Ids and all we have to do is add someone once and BAM! We are completely connected with all their friends lists instantly. They could just give people a warning telling them that they do not suggest adding people they do not know in big bold letters to scare young children into not doing it.

I hope it is true.

Moving on, nothing to see here.
