NSMBWii is off to a slightly slower start than I expected. Still doing amazing though. More 2D Mario is certain to come now, and that just makes my gaming world so much better.

Oh wow that is some good numbers for NSMB Wii. Think the only bigger Wii opening first day has been Brawl if I remember correctly.

Very good start for NSMB.

LBP got owned compared to it's PS3 counterpart (did 50k f/w on PS3 with 170k total)

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

NSMB somewhat on the low side of expectations , probably won't reach 1 million first week then. Still nice.

Also great start for the Mobile Suit Gundam and Phantasy Star Portable 2 games on PSP. Samurai Warriors 3 off to a great as well. Definitely solid week.

As for how they'll end up as a total it just depends on the game. I'd assume that NSMB Wii will perform pretty well in the other days while Mobilie Suit Gundam and SW3 will be very frontloaded in that first day. PSP2 will be more mixed... not as strong as NSMB Wii but still do decent over the next few days.

Not going to give out any final week estimates but it does seem that these games are going to meet our early predictions and expectations.

Wasn't expecting PSP2 to be 200k+.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 > Modern Warfare 2

Don't know if you could call this a good start for SW3. It will probably sell about half of what SW2 did first week. Then again, SW2 sold about half of what the original SW sold so maybe the series is just going the way of the dodo.

I find surprising the number for Assasins Creed 2, they are pretty close

The Musou franchise is going downhill in general. Up until DW5 they all broke a million in Japan easy, but around that time they added Sengoku  Musou and later Gundam Musou to their yearly lineup, and now even the main series struggles to break 600k across all platforms in Japan.

SM3's Wii exclusivity will probably lead to even lower sales in the near term (until it gets ported - rather, if it gets ported), because most DW fans have been migrating from ps2 to ps3 alongside DW6, DW6: Empires, and GM1/2.
