Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Miyamoto on lack of online support in New Super Mario Bros. Wii

“Naturally, Nintendo uses the Internet now and with Super Smash Bros. Brawl we had a game you can play with other people, wherever they are. There will probably be people asking why we didn’t do that with this game as well. Well I think it’s more fun if you can see the face of the other people you are playing with, which is why we concentrated on this design this time.”

Good reason really, I've never been a fan of online gaming, I much rather prefer playing with someone else in the room.

But isn't this response fundamentally different from the earlier one he gave? Where it wouldn't be possible?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

it wouldn't hurt having the option though.
so that's not excuse since that feature would be there too.

yes it is

I respect Miyamoto as much as anyone but I'm sorry. That's a pathetic excuse.

There is not a game in existence where that hasn't been true. However that has never stopped anyone from including online for a multi-player game this gen. Prompted them to include camera support maybe.

I'm really beginning to thing that as genius as Miyamoto is, he is also becoming increasingly dated. No online will barely affect sales on this game, most Wii owner aren't even online at all, but that's still no excuse for not including it in such a major title where the online use would have been huge.

is having an online component something that would make this game better? miyamoto doesn't think so.

lol i said the same thing

I think the only Problem is NINTENDO should of taken into consideration that Everybody doesn't have ppl they can consistently play with or anybody at all.....luckily i have 2 brotheres play with. This should of been a game everybody can enjoy to max potential

Being that many of the best selling games of this generation were so popular because of local multiplayer, why don't companies have to justify their decision to go online-multiplayer only when they release a game?
