I dont see anything gameplay-wise from the MW2 vids that is so dramatically different from the leaked MWii vids.

Obviously the graphics, physics, SFX arent as high fidelity. Its clear that IW just doesnt want to. Not the best financial decision. Then again we dont know all the details from their studio.

One thing I learned a long time ago is don't make someone do what they don't want to do - they will only do a bad job. So IMO it's a good thing it's Treyarch that did the port and not IW. So it's 2 years late? So what? I don't care of being part of the IN crowd, if it's a good game then it's a good game, end of story. I played RE4 Wii years after it came out (and that was years after the original came out) - did I enjoy it any less? NO.

IW might not be able to, but Treyarch definitely can.

Treyarch can do what?  Make a bad CoD game?  Oh yes, they can do that very well.

I give that post a 9.2.

The statement is perfectly clear.  Grow up.  IW said over and over again that the Wii could not handle Modern Warfare.  All the pirated videos of Treyarch's Modern Warfare efforts prove otherwise.  Now IW is at it again with MW2 and beyond.  IW may not be able to deliver on the Wii (and I give them points for admitting it), but there's no doubt that Treyarch can.

The only bad CoD Treyarch made was CoD 3 Wii, and that's because they only had two developers working on it.

Actually it was because they only had 8 months, but otherwise that's true.

I can't find the post, but I'm pretty sure that Treyarch developer who is on all the forums said they only had two developers working on it.

Overall, Treyarch's track record is spotty. The ONLY other shooter they did for the Wii is World at War and it is only a decent game (after reading they didn't actually develop Quantum of Solace for the Wii, but they did for other systems and it was still crap).  I might take excuses from a developer if they had a better history, but Treyarch is, overall, an "OK" developer.

You throw words around like "definitely" and "without a doubt" when it just doesn't fit.  The Reflex gameplay looks ok in the videos (although visually it looks a bit like playing a shooter on my P4 era computer).  Treyarch isn't the kind of developer where i would buy one of their games without a review first.  If they pull this port off than I might be convinced that they can port MW2 with simiilar gameplay, but still unconvinced they can reliably develop a good shooter on their own.

I give that post a 9.4.

Activision basically owns them why not keep them in place.  Letting IW behave like blatant fanboys is just bs since it is costing Wii owners a good game and preventing Activision from making more money.  I have zero respect for IW after seeing how awesome Treyarch did with Reflex, IW has no excuse becasue those graphics are excellent.

I wouldn't buy a game from IW without looking in to it first either.  They have totally lost their minds on the PC version of MW2 (a truly laughable effort), and that has killed any interest in the game for me.

I always thought IW was overrated (face it, there are much better FPSs than CoD), but now they are acting like a prima donna -- and not just for the Wii.

If we felt like we could deliver the cinematic experience we were going for on other platforms, then we would gladly move to that platform
What is with all of these developers going for a 'cinematic experience' these days? If I want a cinematic experience, I'll go see a movie.

Movies are their own medium, like theater or books. You don't see those mediums trying to imitate each other. Why is it that people feel the need for games to imitate movies? Do game developers have such low self-esteem about their games that they think they need to throw in a movie-like experience on top of it? Games are their own medium. I wish more developers would act like it.

@theRepublic

Completely agree. Mediums should embrace what they are and go balls out with it. The cost of all these "cinematic experiences" is huge for developers. They dedicate whole teams to create essentially videos that contribute nothing to gameplay. The studio I used to work at had issue with that and thusly cut our cinematics department.

Gameplay is the experience not Cinematic storytelling.

That story has little to do with game play and mostly to do with their online choices.  While agree that removing online options is a step in the wrong direction, it isn't telling me if the single player or multiplayer experience is going to be good or bad.

There are other good FPS games out there but we aren't talking about them in this thread.  IW's CoD games have been pretty good so far.  It isn't like the FPS world hangs on the survival of CoD, but so far IW has a good track record.  My point is that Treyarch doesn't even have the track record of IW in this regard and seeing them held up like some sort of champion seems far fetched.

I give that post a 9.4.

What the hell is a Modern Warfare game without online?  It's nothing.  Absolutely nothing.  Online is the gameplay, and now it sucks.  IW has lost their minds.  If MW2 PC is IW's goal, their goals are idiotic.

IW needs to get off their high horse and start making the good games that got them where they are today again.  I don't care what platform we're talking about -- if you're unable to make a good game on it you have no talent.

Meh, I just see this as an excuse for them to avoid developing on the Wii. The games obviously can be ported, but they don't want to be bothered with it. No use complaining about it if the decision is in their hands. I wouldn't pick the Wii version up due to friends / online, anyways.

It's much like the situation with Valve and the PS3.

I find it interesting how people can side with one and be against the other.

They don't seem to be against porting their games at least.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
