whats E74 again?

Beats me. It just comes up on a black screen. It has a sentence repeated in about 15 languages and it says in big bold letters E74 towards the bottom and directs you to go to microsoft.com for repairs. The bottom right quarter circle was red, which would be controller #4's signal.

It is basically the same thing as the RRoD just a different part.

@Seraphic

the E74 is very rare, its not RROD type numbers, i doubt youll get it.

Hmmm.... wasn't YLOD rare until recently?

E74 is still caused by overheating except it usually has something to do with the visuals. Most people experience crazy visual problems onscreen before it finally becomes full fledged E74.

As to the reason why it took such a short time, depending on the time of the year, MS has many 360s that are refurbished on hand and ready to be shipped out. Chances are you are receiving someone else 360 while your actual console is still being repaired.

My cousin kinda had the same thing early this year. He lives in Texas has a PS3 (80 gig no BC) and it started acting up with the video output (the RSX was fried probably), so he sends the coffin to Sony repairs in TX on Tuesday and gets it back on Friday the same week ! (it was probably a new or refurbished unit though). I guess that's a plus to any gamer living in TX hah.

RoFL

I just got the RRoD. It seems that everything is fine. Though my controller did die

My last repair took about 2 weeks. But that was back in 2006. Since then ive just fixed my xbox on my own. Screw waiting for them to fix it.
