Doubt it.. Sure, PS3 owners might get one by trading in their existing PS3, but I don't think that will be the bulk of the sales, I think people with Wii's who also want a HD core console might consider the PS3 over the 360 now. Also, those 360 owners who want to play Uncharted, MGS4, UC2, Killzone 2, etc will buy it aswell.

I seem to recall 360 owners saying the same thing just before Microsoft did the RRoD warranty extension.  HD console owners sure buy a lot of them.

Well, I'd bet that lapped gamers would probably get the PS3 slim as well... but with Modnation Racers coming out soon, I'm not too sure anymore.

Isn't the Slim the only one in production, though? Someone please correct me on this if I'm wrong, 'cause I think I might be. If it is, then after all the old models are sold the Slim would encompass 100% of the PS3 sales, right? It makes more sense to me that the majority of people buying them would be people who don't already own a PS3. If the original models are still in production, I guess you're right.

I feel the same way, for months now since the rumor started, almost every PS owner has said I will be trading in my __gig for the new slim OR I cant wait to get my second PS3.

I honestly do feel that while HW will rise software may be a bit slow to catch up.......I'm just happy with my current 60 gig.

But if that happens Sony will lose money!

I think that the initial rush of sales will indeed be mostly existing PS3 owners, but that this will not be the end of the PS3 by any means: it will simply resume its normal sales curve once that boost plays out.
