Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I'm thinking of buying a wii..but is it worth it?

Buy Metroid prime trilogy, you'll love it! It's a first person adventure/shooter. I know you don't like fps, but trust me when this isn't a first person shooter. There's also some cool platforming in Metroid and it's a core game. You get 3 AAA games for the price of $50!
Then also buy Super Mario Galaxy, Super smash bros. brawl, Mario kart wii, no more heroes, zelda: the twilight princess, mad world, muramasa, fire emblem, little kings story, etc

Games to look out for: Metroid: other M, Super Mario Galaxy 2, red steel2, the grinder, no more heroes2, new super mario bros. wii,

Every console this generation has more than enough games to justify the purchase.

ive been doing it for a week and a bit, and its intense . . .

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Well, what is your favorite type of game?

Past Avatar picture!!!

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

I think you will enjoy the wii as long as u can be more casual. Theres definitely more casual games vs hardcore games out there for the wii. Dont worry about the scores tho, some of the games are fun to play.

some games to look out for coming out this year for the wii is new super mario bros wii, the conduit, wii sports resort, red steel 2, and the metroid prime trilogy. Much older games include ssbb, mkwii, re4 zelda:tp, and super mario galaxy are all fun and enjoyable to play

Above I'm a proud Gran Turismo fan, not a Sony fanboy, and now a proud 360 owner, but sharing xbox live accts ATM

End of 2009 Predictions (made Jan 1, 2009): My predictions were pretty accurate, the 360 was over and the Wii was just under.

Wii: 65 mil (yea I'm crazy) 360: 35 mil (its getting there) PS3: 30 mil (the slim better do well)

End of 2010 Predictions (made Jan 7, 2010):

Wii: 81 mil  360: 47 mil PS3: 45 mil

The Wii is a great system, and very much worth it. Don't forget the Gamecube compatibility. It's especially fun for local multiplayer, with Brawl, Mario Sports Titles, NSMBW coming out, and such. It's quite a different experience from the PS360, but that's a good thing. Variety is nice.

I have all three systems, love them all, but probably play with my Wii the most, as it's usually the most relaxing. I play with my Wii almost every night before going to bed.

actually yes, forget the scores for casual Wii games, score system does not work for some Wii games

reviewers for example gave 5.0 to Mario Party 8 but it's great and sold about 7m copies...

Yeah, IMO, people put too much weight and faith in outright number scores. Number scores have a purpose and a use, but the more important part of a review is the write up. I've had much more fun with Mario Party 5 (my favorite MP) than GTA4. Not that I'd argue MP5 is better than GTA4, but I certainly have had more fun with that 70% game than the 97% one.

A lot of the casual games are really hit and miss on a personal level. I love the Mario Party series, but rented Mario & Sonic once, and hated it. The only thing I really remember is almost having an anyeruism attempting to do the 100M dash.
