Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony: Wii Owners Will Become PS3 Owners ( Eventually )

notice that he stated nintendo 64 to ps2,not to ps1, so apparently sony believed the ps2 was competing with the 64,

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

well in my case yes hes right

but my sister who plays wii (first system she had ever), is NEVER buying a ps3

this is all wishful thinking, casual gamers dont care about things like uncharted 2, or dual shock 3

just the way it is.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

What if PS3 owners who are waiting for the PS3 wand upgrade to Wii MotionPlus?

That's equally likely, or even more considering Gamerace's observation.

I'd say this sounds more likely since the wii is starting to get more good games.

yeah just ignore the 360 just like that eh

Well obviously... the most powerful console always wins.

I hadn't caught that... that simply makes him look like a fool who doesn't know what he's talking about.

What a nutjob...

If people didn't "upgrade" to the "more powerful" console yet its most likely becuase of price.

So sure, they would upgrade to a more expensive PS3 when a 360 is playing 90% of the same games for less $$.

Or maybe people just want the have a Wii and don't plan to graduate anywhere...

Did Microsoft or Nintendo say the same thing in the previous gen?

"Sure, the PS2 is selling well, but wait until people graduate to the platforms with better graphics".

If all sony execs really believe that, no wonder they're in the situation they're in now. A new gamer brought in by the Wii is attracted to values such as motion controls, pick-up and play mechanics, family friendly gaming, local multiplayer. These are not the values PS3 gives importance to. If this new gamer wants to upgrade to a fuller experience, he/she will pick up the Wii Motion Plus since that will enhance the values that brought him/her to the wii in the first place.

I dont remember...but the only time execs could have said that and not looked foolish are for the Snes launch and maybe PS2 (over dreamcast).
