reason for the 2 processors is because its a server computer made into a gaming PC. Its a nice PC but the cost of the computer isnt even worth it. That PC costs more then even alienware's PCs.

Also my computer will cost that much because ill be running 2 9800GTXs, Intel's 45nm Penryn based processor, 8GB of ram, top of the line motherboard (of course), 7.1 channel sound card, Blu-ray Disc and DVD/CD combo drives, 1KW power supply, and a lianli case. =]

Machrone's Law is quite old - I first heard of it about 15 years ago. Basically it states that that dream computer you would love to have will always cost you the same amount of money. If you wait long enough, that price point for that specific computer will drop, but by then all its parts are no longer cutting-edge. Hence, you start coveting anothe computer - which by chance will run you up 4 grand anyhow.

Machrone's Law serves to prove one thing: If you really want a top-end computer, you have to be willing to pay for it. Waiting will do you no good as the components will be obsolete by the time the price drops to a level you are comfortable with.

Of course, we are not talking about our "dream computers" - and the article clearly states so, pegging the entrance fee to PC gaming at a quarter of that cost - and you can still go lower.

But! That doesn't negate the fact I would love to have a triple-screen setup with dual/quad everything to the max. But! that will cost me probably even more than 4 grand! But! I don't need all that to get my game on! 

 no.. i prefer to actually be able to run Crysis on high thank you an 8800GTX wont cut it due to the fact to demo it they had to flash freeze two 8800GTXs overclocked by 80% and I am not going to re-wire my whole house just to install a generator to run my PC 24/7 or else worry about having my PC becoming a sexy new freezer. They have the money to not care. 

Hardly fair - at all. You are saying you need to pay mega-bucks to play Crysis (which isn't true but anyhow) while I am saying a) you couldn't play Crysis on any console "at the kind of level that would do the game justice" (your words, not mine) no matter what console you have.

With a PC, you at least have a choice.

Of course, for every Halo 3 (which will undoubtedly hit PCs - it's just a matter of time, just like the other two installments), Metroid Prime 3 and Killzone 2, PCs get their share of  games - or did you think Crysis is the ONLY FPS that will grace the PC in this generation?

 no its the brain child of an idiot who thought shoving a massive server motherboard into a PC case would look good. The tubes are just neon liquid cooling tubes. Cant tell if they lite up or not. 

Hehe, I know that PC is not worth that money, but hey, it still looks hefty :P

I could buy a better system with a lot less money, and even better looking, with custom designed paint and case (thank you Dremel), and a peltier-based cooling system (with customized radiatior of course). Only thing I haven't done yet is customized form factors for the case, but its on the works :D

But no, a rule for me is not spending more than $2000 on a computer... even my last update costed less than $600 heh. And it works kickassks :)

exactly you only have to spend that every 3 years after you have a good computer about 200 - 600 bucks because there are the low-grade graphics cards that top your $600 top of the line you bought 3 years before that. But I dont have a desktop and it seems im going to hold of a bit longer then I wanted because of USB 3.0 being released.
