Forums - Gaming Discussion - I'm Sorry but PS3 & 360 Motion Peripherals = Epic Fail.

I'm have to say that I am HUGELY dissapointed with both MS and Sony for their motion peripherals.

I mean, both MS and Sony admitted defeat to Nintendo at this point...but this garbage???

After seeing both Project Natal and PS3's little mic thing in "action", both look beyond fraud to me. The most amazing thing is how a short two days ago EVERY SINGLE one of you HD fanboys were up Nintendo's ass for how stupid the path they took with the Wii is. Today, half of you are talking about about how motion plus is going to be eclypsed by that ugly ass (opinnion, I know it was just for the tech demo) microphone Sony showed yesterday. The other half have of the people half some stupid tagline in their signature about how Project Natal is the future of gaming. Face detection and voice recognition. OOOOOOOOH. WHO THE HELL CARES??? They both look garbage!!!

The only motion add-on peripheral I will be purchasing this generation of consoles is Motion plus. Why? I know it will get tons of support from Nintendo and we will see creative and fun games. At this point, no matter what MS and Sony do their peripherals will never recieve as much good conent. For gods sake leave nintendo to what they brought in this gen. and stick to what you already have. You will never see a game that looks as good as Killzone 2 on PS3 with motion sensetivity...it's a sad truth...get over it.

MS and Sony lost a lot of respect from me. I know business is all about money but wow.

Newsflash.  Its not going to be required to play every damn game.  Wii fails hardcore because I have to use their wand mote to play their games. The same reason you use to love wii motion control I use to hate it.  It's your opinion and all, and this is my opinion and all, but you're wrong. Someday we will see Killzone 2 quality graphics with a hand gun (or wand, I guess) motion controller.  It's the honest truth, get over it.
This whole arguing over motion controls is getting stupid.  Its the same crap from 20 years ago, I swear to Chuck.  Back then people argued over the bloody number of buttons on the controllers and oh god SEGA is copying NINTENDO ad nauseum.

This is what I get from this thread:

LEAVE THE WII MOTION PLUS ALONE, LEAVE IT ALONE, PLEASE!

Actually Sony's eyetoy came out before the Wii mote came out. Get your facts straight

Yes, but Sony could never get it to work the way it should. Technically they copied te Wii, since it forced them to create wands of their own.

http://gear.ign.com/articles/494/494328p1.html

Sony's always had the idea of a stick motion controller and the eyetoy since PS2. Sure it was limited to what we see now but it was there.  Just Sony never saw a reason to focus on it since they were already in the lead back then without the focus of those accessories.

perpride I have to agree with you. EVER SINCE nintendo announced the wii and microsoft sony were talking about how they were WII was just a gimmick and that they were not interested on motion because they were the HARDCORE. now that they see that they have failed they go on and just copy nintendo. and all of the sudden motion controllers are acceptable. Sure sony made the eyetoy, but how much did they support it? by the way I´m ok with options but you have to admit that this proves that nintendo was right from day one. I AM 100% SURE THAT IF IT WAS NOT FOR NINTENDO WII NATAL AND THE SONY WIIMOTE WOULD HAVE NEVER BEING CREATED. AT LEAST NOT THIS GENERATION. I SEE THIS AS SONY AND MICROSOFT GETTING DOWN ON THEIR KNEES. Also most sony and microsoft fans just kept saying HOW SONY WAS SO HARDCORE AND THEY WOULD NEVER BECOME CASUAL. NOW HERE YOU HAVE THEY ALL HAVE MOTION NOW.

and they both look pretty cool to me, but I always stated I liked motion controls and just wanted them to be a bit more refined than the wii-mote

the Sony solution looks interesting to me as I already own a PS Eye and only would need one of the lolipop controllers, which hopefully will be priced aggressively (cheaply)

I Think both have great potential. Especially Natal.

Even a bigger potential issue is that Microsoft wants its motion to work with every game.

Now who is going to write the code for that? If people complain about the Wii's motion, imagine developers whining about having to write both controller and motion detection routines. How many will do that.

For existing games, that becomes a patch. Is that patch free? Or it runs through the Natal system, potentially slowing the game down.

I am not saying these technologies are not interesting. But they are not necessarily going to take the market by storm. Video game history is littered with peripherals that did not catch on -- from the Indy 500 controller for the Atari 2600 to the NES Power Glove and U-Force to the Actuator (full body motion suit) of the SNES/Genesis era.

I understand the OP's point; If you hated or hate motion controls before, why is it now motion is cool when your console of choice implements it? He's basically calling out the fanboys.

The main reason I (im sure many others) dont like the Wii motion control was that it was way too imprecise and the quality of games were not up to par as the PS3 or the 360.

both of the montion control systems sony and ms showed is not just a copy, but a vast improvement in this technology!
there is a big difference

Both look promising.

Both add new stuff to the table.

I agree.  I am waiting until 2011.  I think both might be pretty good and have fun games by then.

This. Sony already has a strong pedigre of motion capture technology and the games to go with it. Microsoft's "You're in the Movies" also demonstrates they have what it takes to make Nintendo cower in the corner of the new age of motion gaming.
