Generic FPSs and a Roman Punch out = New Rare?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Right now, I don't think they are even close to Rare, and I doubt anyone else does either. With that said, if The Conduit reaches 1mil + then The Grinder will be a success too and they will be well on their way to acquiring the talent (artists and writers mainly), to be the next Rare, Epic, or Bungie. Right now, I only worry that they are wasting resources on that Gladiator game which may be fun but is destined to be allergic to sales.

Oh you mean as in commenting on HVS=Rare because they are filling gaps in the software?

I still think they aren't quite Rare because they aren't delivering that kind of quality yet, but they could be in the future.
