Also, imho, Apple products are very often overpriced considering the features. You are in essence paying a brand tax for these phones. Now, the gaming library is certainly nice, because this is a mainstream system, but imo, you'd get a better value with a free Pearl and a DS or a PSP. Much better gaming and multimedia.

Does the iPhone still require you to repurchase your MP3s through a proprietary store? Get a Sony walkman. Great advice to any potential iPod customers.

Games selection at the moment I wouldn't argue, but everything else, the ipod touch trumps the PSP, I don't even own an ipod touch, but it is clear that it is a better media player, internet browser, and has 8 Gigs of RAM on the basic model for 230, didn't the psp cost 250 at launch.

The psp cost 170 right now, but how much is an 8 Gig memory stick going to run you?

I don't even have to look it up and I know.

Yeah, but I meant the Blackberry. You can get one free atm, and it has equal or better multimedia options, when combined with a PSP/DS, than an iphone. Much better. I mean the combo, not the single PSP. :P

I got a blackberry pearl for free with my data plan, which is only 50 bucks a month. Add that to a DS with its game library, and wtf, you have epic portable entertainment....or just get a laptop.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Wow, it has a flying game.

Like every other console since 1994...

I'm still not impressed.

concerning the game video itself - looks interesting, reminds me of lair though - in other words, better wait until the game is actually released before passing judgement on it. However - there is one thing you are forgetting regarding said game - its not a transportation-friendly game. that is - any bumps would pretty much screw with the game, so i can't imagine seriously playing the game while on the train - which is where about half of my own portable gaming takes place. I call this out on this game specifically because flying games are more reliant on precision then say a motion based puzzle game.

also - you might want to look at this link, regarding a comparison between the itouch and the DS concerning games.

as for gaming on an iphone in general? i dont really approve. too few games can be awesome on the DS using only the touchscreen to believe its a viable platform (though i fully admit the few that do it well are great. i'd love to see an audio-surf-eske Elite Beat Agents (or osu!) running on an iphone, creating the beatmaps based on the songs and difficulty settings (for those that havent played audiosurf). I think a game like that could infact be the flagship title for the iphone.

um..stuff

Geez sure is early in the day for the winner of least informed comment of the day. I'm always impressed when people posit an opinion (Apple stuff is overpriced) and then totally undermine themselves by saying something totally untrue and obviously made up simply to prove their point. The fact that nobody else called you on this just goes to show that people will believe anything if it agrees with their pre-existing bias. Let me straighten this out.

The iPhone has never required people to buy all their music again. Not on launch day, and not today. It never happened. I've heard the same FUD spread about the iPod as well from people who would rather be ideological than right. Kinda hard to trust the opinion of somebody who is unwilling to inform themselves the least bit on the topic they are discussing.

Next time before you give advice make sure you didn't just make it up.

Three pages and none of you can name five games you want to buy for the iphone.

Yeah I'll think I'll pass.

3 pages? what do you have your browser set on 5 items per page?

go with 100 man, its so much better. Stop waiting to load.

Well for its price, I certainly hope the iPhone is more powerful than the DS or PSP. I personally wouldn't want to shell out as much as (or in some cases, more than) a PS3 cost at launch to buy a handheld gaming system, however. Come to think of it, I wouldn't want to pay that much for a cell phone, either. Or even a cell phone and gaming system combined.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

considering that most iphone games are cell phone ports/psx ports/flash games ports i highly doubt that. no to mention that those few original games either look like homebrew games or are simply bad.

I didn't know the iphone was this powerful.

.........and this game is the reason I am now excited about the iphone.

http://wireless.ign.com/articles/974/974147p1.html

I am shocked, delighted and excited as a gamer to see what the iphone can really do, up until now I thought the iphone needed to have buttons, and because of that I didn't take the iphone seriously as a gaming machine, but this game really shows the true potential of the iphone and proves to me the iphone is a capable gaming device all it needs now is for the games to come, which are coming.

I was itching to buy a portable gaming device, so I bought a DS earlier this year, my first hand-held gaming system, and I haven't bought a Nintendo product since the NES, but the DS wasn't for me, I was also thinking about buying a sony psp, but it doesn't seem to have enough games, so I held out, but after seeing this game for the iphone and finding out the iphone is more powerful than the sony psp, I just might go buy a iphone or an ipod touch.

Excellent Job Apple!

Great..... another fucking bandwagon jumper.

I officially do not like you anymore! Yay!

Just kiss the tip.
