Forums - Gaming Discussion - Most underrated games of the generation thread

Often I play some game I kind of heard about, and then get it from a friend or cheap, after I'd forgotten about it.  A lot of times they turn out to be the best games on the systems.  So I'm curious what games are truly underrated (bad reviews maybe, sold bad?) that are actually great.

I'll give a couple off the top of my head, some for each system, though not neccessarily the top underrated game . ..

Wii : Endless ocean -  At the store it always just sat there, no one saying anythign about it, but i was curious and the price was right.  AMAZING GAME.  Its like shenmue in the ocean, just a full world.  I also hear people bash godfather wii, but I really liked it a lot, and thought it had a bit of strategy to it.

DS:  Hotel Dusk for sure.  Deep deep game.  Very original.  Metroid Prime Pinball should be played by more people, it's my favorite metroid on the system.

360: The Darkness.  It motivated me to make this thread.  All I can say is if you liked system shock or deus ex, get this game!  I personally loved Test Drive Unlimited as well, kind of the endless ocean of driving.

overall one i think is really underrated goin back to nes is M.U.L.E.  I'm dating myself here badly, but that was an incredible game for its time.

so anyway what are yours?  i need to buy some games soon :)

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn on Wii. You have to have played PAth of Radiance on the gamecube to really get the most out of this title (and that's quite a hard game to find) but I think it's the best straight-up sequel I've ever played. The games work so well together and the story is so involving!

Radiant Dawn does some really clever things with its gameplay and set-up that would ruin the experience if I spoilered them, but if you have a wii then I think you should definitely go out and get these games to play them in order!

Not recommended for the impatient, however, as there is a lot of text reading (although you can skip it if you really want).

PS3: Genji days of the blade.

(Under-rated clasic)

Tease.

Lair (BTW, I greatly prefer motion controlled flying for this game)

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

The Force Unleashed would definitely be up there for me. It had a few bugs, and not much replay value, but it was definitely a lot of fun. I'd give it 8.2 at least.

Going back to the PS2, YuGiOh Duelists of the Roses was also a lot of fun. It wasn't very deep, but it wasn't bad by any stretch.

Lego Rock Raiders is also awesome, but I played that years ago.
