No one cares about games that old... but if you could just go back to the PS1 era, they and Insomniac would have to be included

Actually, LOTS of people do.  And again, missing the point of the article.

But the whole point of the list is that it isn't making adjustments like that to disallow older games, this doesn't mean that companies that didn't make the list are bad or don't consistently make great games in current times, it means that at some point they made a bad game.  It happens to the best of companies and isn't something to worry about.

OMG yes Intelligent Systems deserves to be on that list, they were actually the first company that came to my mind when I red this thread's title. They're awesome! :D

The list lacks Polyphony, and Black Isle Studios, And Team ICO, and Clover Studios.

Nintendo has made bad games.  There's no getting around it.

Camelot is an interesting nomination, though Beyond the Beyond is fairly questionable....

 you can't count camelot as they did make the monstrosity of a game called we love golf for the wii.  However, I would give them an honorable mention as the creators of shining force 3, which may be the best game ever made...sigh.  Maybe someday scenarios 2 and 3 will make it to america...

If you read the criteria, they exclude studios that no longer exist, haven't been around long enough (seems pre-PS1 is required), or have little variation in their output.

While those studios haven't made bad games, some of them they still made mediocre games:
- Lionhead Studios, for example, made the mediocre Fable and the decent Fable 2, and both are not good games.
- Kojima Studios made the not-so-good Metal Gear Solid 2, and that bad game called MGS: Portable Ops Plus (or so I've heard).
- Bioware made the very mediocre Jade Empire.


The rest seems fine, though I don't know much about Intelligent Systems. I'm surprised you didn't pick quality juggernauts like Blizzard, Stardock and Relic.
