i didn't really like MP3. The controls were nothing special and the gameplay was frankly the worst i've experienced in an FPS. It would be as if you are throwing cushions at enemies rather than shooting at them, there was just no satisfaction. It felt like it was built for kids

@Red That is your first problem. MP is as much of an FPS as Oblivion is.

Definitely not.  MP3 was definitely a shooter with boring puzzles.  Oblivion was much more fun to explore in and had sword play.

Anyway, on topic:  the wiimote is not calibrated in nearly enough games and when it is it still isn't perfectly accurate like a mouse is on the PC.  If it's not calibrated, it's just like a low-level mouse, you are not aiming like a light gun.

If that is the case explain to me why you would classify any metroid game(2d ones included) as an Action game and not an Action-Adventure. To describe the Metroid Prime series as a FPS is like calling the 2d Metroids Side-Scroller shooters in the same vain as contra. Also the oblivion and MP3 thing wasn't a comparison, but a point to make that the perspective a game takes place in doesn't make it's genre.

I love it when Wii fanboys (and yeah I've spotted at least 2 of them here) claim the superiority of the Wii controls in shooters.

In fact it might be even true, but it's always coming from guys who suck at playing FPS with normal controlers.

Just accept it that there are MANY gamers who could kick your asses in every FPS. (I'm not denying that the average Wii gamer is probably able to beat an average PS360 gamer)

Our claim of the wii controls being superior are just as good as yours saying they are inferior.  Both opinions from us.  But since you guys love to bring in metacritic and stuff as proof of your game being good, then the majority of reviewers say that COD5, metroid, and others have superior controls to dual analog so then that must be true right?  Or are reviews pointless.

Yea there are many gamesr who could kick my ass in a FPS, just as there are just as many that could kick your ass.  And no I don't suck at Dual Analog controls.  I don't have to be bad at something to find them inferior.    Heck think of if there was 1:1 motion control.  I would kick so much more ass in fighter games by pushing buttons versus actually doing the sweet ass moves they can do.  Does that mean that 1:1 is inferior control versus the A button

True.

Well, all action in the game is shooting. That's like saying God of War is an "action adventure" and not just an action game because it has puzzles that interrupt the action. It's still rather confined spaces like MP3 was (unless there are huge open spaces I never got to before quiting). I don't think the significance is that great. Oblivion has a lot of stuff to it besides shooting arrows or direct-damage spells that can be considered "FPS gaming." I'd say it has FPS elements, but MP3 is at least half FPS with puzzles seperating the action and should be considered as much of an FPS as God of War is an action game.

Dual analog FPS controls is one of the best things that happened to console gaming. EVER. People are spoiled by innovative Wii controls. Just a few days ago people were complaining about RE5 having clunky controls compared to RE4 Wii version.
Put the aspect of Wii FPS aside. Imagine controlling FPS games without both analog sticks. It will be bad.Bad like it was in the old days.
Are you saying you hate Dual analog controls because Wii FPS controls are superior ? Or did you hate FPS games because of Dual Analog controls but now like them because of new controls ?

None of the above. I've always like FPS and used, and was reasonably proficient, with dual analog control because there wasn't a choice. But even though I liked the games, I never liked the controls, which is why I almost completely switched to PC. I logged about a gazillion hours on COD1, United Offensive and COD2.

When the Wii came along I found I much prefered its control system to any other. I enjoy playing Call of Duty World at War more on the Wii, even with the less than spectacular graphics, than on the PC at 1900 x 1200; and 10x more than on the XBox. And yes, I've tried all three.

I never said that. Stopped reading there.

if you honestly think that everyone is so biased based on the company, then wouldn't logic lead you to believe that you too might be biased and maybe you love IR controls because Nintendo made them?

No! Cause I'm not a hater. As opposed to the Nintendo haters who down everything they do. If that was the case then I would think the GC controller was the best analog controller instead of the 360 one.

I find it funny when people in this thread say that if you try pc/wii controls you will never go back to dual analog. I played shooters on pc all the way from the original doom and always hated playing FPS on consoles. That was until the year of the Bioshock/Halo3/Orange Box madness where I got accustomed to and now prefer using a controler for fps. Oh snap!

Interesting. They are the same games (-Halo 3) that I started using Mouse/Keyboard with and now I can't go back. I can't begin to imagine playing as the Spy on TF2 with dual analog. As for Wii-mote, I dream of the day I can motion backstab or pyro axe even if it's in DX7. Come on Valve make it happen.

My brother completed both Bioshock and Gears of War on his 360.

Then he bought the 2 games for the PC and plugged his 360 controller in and he really loves it.

He was always a hardcore PC FPS gamer and the 360 is his first console.
