If they made it a mmorpg that would be awesome... a console game like dp would be fun but it would be weird to play with the wiimote.

ha well if it's like thier games and not the anime you pick a move and the opponent does, not something too wiimote like.

but I would love to do the throwing action to throw out my pokeball, lol.  But that is one thing I hope they start doing in their games more, have like attacks and defense and stuff be mroe a factor vs just your move does whatever.  You know something like jump in air and do this attack, and based on what the other person does, they could miss or do more damage ect.

One of my main problems with a home console Pokemon RPG is the pacing. Take Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness for example, I may be exaggerating but battles seemed to take 15-20 minutes in those games vs. 2-5 minutes on handhelds and keep in mind, this was just ordinary trainer battles.

A lot of SRPGs have the option to turn battle animations off.  I can only imagine pokemon would have the same thing.  You can only watch flamethrower so many times...

i don't think many people realise how long it would take to make a game that big.

You would need to make a huge 3d world (HUGE)
495 pokemon and their animations for each attack
Story creators (not huge but itd be a nice step-up)
Finding glitches would take ages
Online if done right would take a gazillion years.
etc.

Pokemon has been around for 10+ years now :O and I have to say very shockingly it has still not seen a full scale version on home console like Diamond/Crystal/Green for the handhelds. What on earth could be the reason for this, surely they can employ more people at GameFreak to make a console game.

10 million sales for a console version no problem, no problem at all.

I have been a major advocator for a Pokemon MMORPG.  Eventhough I am against MMORPGs myself and various other things that would make this idea bad.  However, if they put their minds to it, Nintendo and Game Freak could make this game the best MMORPG ever made.  Cel Shaded graphics like the Anime, all the locations from the Anime and games, classes like Berry Farmer, Psychic/Water/Fire Trainer etc giving each type items and class benefits and more.  There's just one problem.

Pokemon is the best selling handheld series ever.  And as such, they aren't going to give it any competition.  Including within its own series.  So that means the best we are going to see from it on consoles is what we have seen.  Simple 3D Battle Arena games or Dungeon crawlers where you can upload your Pokemon and gain small trinkets that can be given to your Pokemon.

So while I think Pokemon can go well beyond its boundaries currently, I realize why they aren't.  And it would have a secondary side-effect.  Back when the GBA came out, they reset the series releasing Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green, allowing you to catch all the Pokemon from Red/Blue and Gold/Silver.  And now that connectivity has stayed constant all the way through Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.  If they were to start an independant Console RPG Series or MMO, those Pokemon couldn't be used.  And that would hurt both series.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Been asking that same question for 10 years now haha. It would be nice, and easily could run as an MMO as well but something Nintendo hasn't tackled yet. The Pokemon Coliseum games on the GC were something close to it but once again not fully there. I guess we'll see how it plays out.
