Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will games continue to portray women as sex objects in the future?

As long as women allow to be treated in that way, it will continue to happen. Not only in videogames, but in everything else.

True, though I'm trying to accept it a little more and see it on the other side too. Because I don't think it will change anytime soon. People like to get their I.Q. drop to 0 when they see a little bit of skin (or pixelated skin) and curves.

Also what OPP said is also true... Gee you act like you've never seen a girl in your life (and it probably wasn't even a real girl, heh).

I would like to see the video game industry mature past this. Women are pigeon holed into one role - sex object. The industry as a whole is decades if not centuries behind the times.

Men are very sexual and women are far less, hence why women are much more heavily portraid as sex objects by ALL media not only games.

Yup, thats why male heroes in videogames dont look anything like Fabio during his prime.

They all look like totally realistic real life nerds instead of romanticised fantasies with big muscles and huge sixpacks.

What games have UGLY protagonists? All games have hot characters, it's just that the 12 year old male demographic that rules the industry with their wacky dreams has different ideas about what makes men and women hot. To make women hot, you give them giant balloons for tits and make them jiggle everywhere butt-naked, no exceptions. To make men hot, you make them bald, give them superhuman strength with cybernetic implants, and make them so tough and badass that they can single-handedly save the universe with nothing but a gun and some elbow grease. I call this character Fabio Schwarzaneggar. He's in most games.

Personally, I'm waiting for a game with a horribly disfigured protagonist that hides in the shadows and doesn't want anybody to see their ugly face.

Who the hell's going to play a game with ugly people in it?

As long as they make the women smart AND hot, I'm good. When it comes to marketing, everyone's a sex object...

Will game continue to be primarily marketed towards the 15-30 year old male demographic?
