Forums - Gaming Discussion - PSP, or Wii?

I found this funny. http://pspmedia.ign.com/psp/image/article/685/685414/syphon-filter-dark-mirror-20060202030113639.jpg http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/733/733951/far-cry-vengeance-20060921083022237.jpg I am just curious. Why... God why. A handheld... outdoes a 'next gen' on 3D graphics. Always amusing.

everyone knows Far Cry blows...doesn't affect Wii fans, so whatever

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

The PSP is indeed a very powerful handheld, but in all seriously nowhere close to the Wii. Far Cry was just a really, really poor port.

Either way. I find that amusing. I mean seriously. The PSP... on paper, is 75% of a PS2. on Paper, the Wii is ~5x a PS2. Makeing the Wii like... 7x more powerful than the PSP. The Wii should be able to brute force, with it's eyes closed... graphics 2x better than the PSP. The Wii has horrible QA. Cant wait to see March NPD numbers. lol. And see PS3 sales in Europe. However the news about the emulator is very problematic. However I read somewhere that as long as the games obeyed the PS2's API. They should work on the emulator. However some of the best looking games on the PS2. Cheated, and pulled some hardware tricks that shouldnt have worked... but did. Those are likely to be the problematic ones on the Software emulator. I am in no way saying it's good. I am just saying. Untill there is more info on WTF sony is doing. No-one will know. Also. Sony said the PS3's to Europe were on the boat 2-3 weeks ago. Very intresting. Were they already making Europe PS3's back when PS3 launched? Is sony screwing Europe? Or are they just giving them the future first? As long as software support is more than 75%... it's MUCH better than 360. However it is sad they are doing that. But untill the list is released. I think jumping to a conclusion that sony is screwing europe is too early. However signs do point to it. Bad move sony. On the bright side, Since it's a software emulator, they can always get the numbers higher than what they are at launch... Unless they do it like the 360, and dont even support games for the x-box after 360 launch... lol. Seriously. Sony can be shooting themselves. But it could also be good. It depends on how things turn out in the next month.

If/when Wii sales in March still kick the shit out of the PS3, will you finally shut the fuck up?

Actually the Wii has a scrambling filter for boring, derivative FPS built-in.

On the Rev B PS3 with software emulator: Sony said that they are going to sell this everywhere, not just in Europe. In 3-6 months hardware compatibility will be history. And Sony said "we're going to focus on the future" in a way that could be interpreted as "we're going to put less effort in software emulation than MS did for the 360". Either way, the Wii is the only system with proper last-gen compatibility now, and it has the biggest retro library for download.

Sintinel - STFU. :) Yes, I understand that on the PS3, however my question is once agian. How will they do their backwards compatablity. Because if you think it's gonna be below the 360... ROFL. That would be hard to do. Let me list off a few games worth buying off the top of my head for the PS2. God of War, Tales of Legendia, Tales of the Abyss, FF10, FF11, FF10x2, FF12, GT3, GT4, Tekken 4, Tekken5. That's 11. That is almost 10% of the entire 360 backwards compability list. ROFL (numbers) if there are less than 1000 PS2 games supported I would be honestly AMAZED. However I do understand Sonys standpoint. They do still sell the PS2. It's not like PS2 is classic. PS1 is classic. PS2 is still modern. (look at the games coming in the next 6 months. And Even Mercenaries2 is coming to the PS2) Either way. As I say. Bad move for the Sony on the emulator.

I just said "less effort". I know they're geniuses over at Sony HQ, they'll probably have 99% compatibilty by MARCH.
