Here's another analogy. Say we are talking about the car industry. You have some high performance cars like Porches and Ferraris ok? You also have Honda selling the NSX. Then Honda decides to create and sell the Civic. The civic is more appealing to the non car enthousiast. Honda also still sells the NSX though for those car enthousiasts. Is Honda ruining the car industry?

What if they expand their normal car lines to include all sorts of other models that the non car enthousiasts like, still retaining the NSX for those with the cash and drive to buy and maintain one?  When do they start ruining the car industry because they aren't solely targetting the core enthousiast market?

I see games on each system that I would like to play. I am a true gamer. None of this only liking one system nonsense. I haven't played my 360 in about 2 and a half months but I see Bioshock and Mass Effect renewing my desire. I don't have a Wii but can't wait to get my hands on Metroid and Mario Kart. Don't have a PS3 either but MGS4 and FF13 looks mighty fine.

Nintendo hasn't destroyed anything. They just made the pie bigger for everyone. All 3 companies will be successful this generation so what's the big deal. All 3 companies have a history of arrogant decisions so no one is perfect. Don't let these corporations own you. If you see a game that looks fun, play it. If you don't like it maybe the guy next to you will. Is it so hard to believe someone could like something you don't. I'm not into animal training games or Barbie games but I'm not threatened by them. Ask yourself this. Are there more or less games coming out each month then 10 years ago. We get new releases all the time. Pick one. Enjoy. And let the other guy or girl enjoy too. Stop hating.

WTF?!?! Honda is making cars for everyone? They are going to ruin it for HARDCORE drivers, all car companies will start making cars for everyone. I don't want CASUALS on the road. Boycott them!!!

Wii Code 8761-5941-4718-0078

I don't know why people think nintendo's core gamers are left behind, the Wii doesn't even have a year old and it's getting 3 of the most important nintendo franchises(they are called the 3 big 3 for a reason) and they have some franchises to push in the future(Zelda, Mario Kart, all Mario sports, Star Fox, F-Zero, Exite series, kirby, donkey kong, pikmin among others) and they can bring back to life a lot of new ones(Kid Icarus, Yoshi's series, Dr. mario, puch out, etc) plus they can make new IPs, this all is just nintendo, and if you add the the 3rd party support(I think it will end like the DS), I think the Wii have the core gamer in good position for at least 4 years.

PS Vita and PC gamer

CPU Intel i5 2500K at 4.5 Ghz / Gigabyte Z68 Mobo / 8 Gb Corsair Vengeance 1600 mhz / Sapphire HD 7970 Dual X Boost / Corsair Obsidian 550d

I would own a Nintendo system for Nintendo games alone. Their franchises have enough history of success to fuel systems into the next century. As expensive as consoles are today, I will probably own all 3 by sometime next year. Nintendo will always be my favorite cause I grew up with it. Can't wait for the next FZero or Pilotwings. And of course that elusive light saber game.

Nintendo should just conform and produce nothing but space marine shooters. Mario and his crew need to be updated. Make the mushroom kingdom some distant planet and the Marios are an elite squad of soldiers/ex-football players. Just think about walking around and shooting goombas over and over and over and over. Fuck puzzles and platforming. I wanna blow stuff up.

Same with Zelda. Place it in the year 2232 where Link should be a part of Hyrules National Army and Zelda should be like the presidents daughter. Only no pussy sword fighting. Can you imagine fragging Ganondorf?
Star Fox should also be grounded with a few sparse Arwing missions thrown in so I can blow stuff up in space in between blowing stuff up on ground. Also, make Fox human.
Kirby should be some blob that consumes people in an open world environment. Think monster movie meets sandbox game. But I can still pick up hookers... and shoot stuff. In fact, Kirby should be the antagonist in the game.
Donkey Kong should be a monkey with attitude who goes around shooting random people, throwing barrels and making them slip on banana peels.
The Mario Party games should be a bunch of minigames where I can shoot stuff. Story don't matter here. If it's pretty and I get to shoot stuff, I'm there.

That'll get the hardcore gamers. I'm sure of it. And it won't destroy gaming with things like 'variety' or 'fun'.

Current systems owned: Wii, 360. I'll get a PS3 when hell freezes over!... or when the price drops to a reasonable level. Whichever comes first.

It looks to me that Nintendo is rolling out the "Japanese" strategy. If you study what has happened with the DS it can prove illuminating. It is very telling that a title like "Brain Age 2", a sequel, has outsold the original (in Japan). For all gamers, "hardcore" (whatever that means) and casual, the question for the future is "would you rather have the games that are released in english (or some other translation) or would you rather be in the position of the Japanese gamer that is getting a huge and deep variety of good titles now?" There are so many great games that never make it out of Japan. That may be changing if Nintendo can capture a demographic outside of Japan to support a more unified development program.

P.S. - It will also eventually help Sony (and Microsoft) by expanding the market.

well but konnichiwa, NOBODY announced new games at E3! Please tell me a game that has been announced only at E3 and we didn't know about before. I don't think there are more than five worth mentioning, one of them is Mario Kart.

Let we go ten years ago in the past when Nintendo 64 was launched me as an Nintendo fanboy that time was one of the happiest boys in the world. I see my old friends in 3D and I can tell you I was almost crying when I saw Mario in 3D and the same with Zelda but when I was playing N64 I made some new friends like Banjo Kazooie who were damned so great I am pretty sure when you think about your N64 you are probably thinking about the great time you had with Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dard and golden Eye...

But now ten years later they don't surprise me anymore, Okay we have mario again, Metroid but when I was watching
the NIntendo conference 07 I was expecting Miyamoto would jump on the floor and introduce a new character into
the nintendo universe just for example Zario the crazy evil half blood brother of Mario who lives in Russia who is so
scary that Bowser and Wario are shitting their pants of when they see him.

And make an game about him.

I mean Miyamoto is the best or one of the best gaming developpers of the world I can not believe he
doesn't have any ideas anymore.

I just want that kind of magic back when I played the Snes and was introduced to Donkey Kong country or N64
banjo Kazooie.

I miss it.

And if you are happy about it okay but I miss it.

If you want to change that maybe you should become a game developer.  You're asking very specifically for something YOU want.   Try to jump outside that box.

the Wii is an epidemic.

I'm sorry you gave up on Nintendo.

um, can I have your Wii/DS games for free?

No, it's not going to stop  'Til you wise up
No, it's not going to stop  So just ... give up

I guess that's a pretty good analogy. Apart from the fact that THEY DON'T MAKE THE NSX ANYMORE!!!!! I'm sorry, but that it complete ignorance on your part. In the Same way that Nissan only makes boring cars as they don't make the Skyline anymore. It was almost the same with Ford, although they redeemed themselves by creating the Ford GT (however that's noit really a good example as it is completely different to their normal cars). Seriously, the only way a car company has ever been successful at satisfying different types of customers is by creating an extra part of them, or buying another company. Ie Toyota has Lexus, Nissan has Infiniti, Honda has Acura, VW and Audi are one and the same, GM has Jaguar and did have Aston Martin.

IMO it is impossible to cater for 2 different types of customers. One of them is going to lose.
