I'm not saying that my opinion supercedes others, however, for people to make an assumption on whether this game will do well or fail without seeing in the wild is superfluous.  I saw it at PAX, while other people played- and observed the reactions and lines the game had.  I think thats a very valuable thing to consider.  You might not like the game, but there is no denying the game has mass market appeal from what I saw.

For the record, I think the game looks cool and fun and I will be buying it.

But you also have to take in consideration that PAX is a gaming convention so people there are bound to be gaming enthusiasts more than general populace.

From what you saw, it looks like the game will be very much welcomed in the gaming community but as for mass market appeal, we'll just have to wait and see. The marketing campaign has to be extraordinary to convince people who didn't want a PS3 before to spend the $500+ for this game. I'm not saying it's impossible but it's going to be a hard task.

While I'm pretty sick of the LBP Will be huge comment, it's not unlike any other thing we see when any other big game gets released.

When you're running the grift, you can't tip your hand. Problem is, so many lames are in on the scam, that not tipping the hand is impossible.

Any potential earnings from this title scoring AAA have been lost long ago. It's to the point now that everyone on the internet is gonna be rolling with laughter unless this games scores a 90% on gamerankings and sells over 4 million copies.

It's expected AAA. It's expected to be a huge seller. When things do what we expect them to, well.....we expect it. The only newsworth information about LBP after its release is if it underperforms. It can no longer be "shockingly good."

So, yes, early on, overhyping this game did hurt it. However, now it's too late. Sony fans can hype this all they want. It's in diminishing returns. If this game isn't the end all gift from God and heaven that has been rubbed in every face, for and against, over the past 2 years, then LBP touters better run from the Internet. I suggest they spend that time actually playing the game.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I agree with original poster. I'm already loading my Nintendo-made assault rifle with all of the ammunition that I'm getting from this LBP will be huge and LBP is a Mario killer stuff.

I actually think that it looks like a pretty good game but the more that this is hyped up as the be all end all of video games I laugh. If Nintendo made this, people would say things like, "Look another casual game by Nintendo that neglects the core audience."

For the sake of gaming I hope that this game does well because it does look creative.

It hasn't even been two years Mr. Folder, it's been eighteen months.

And as long as the game sells 3-5 million units and averages an 85 on metacritic I'll be happy.

This thread is stupid for two reasons:

1. Neither Metal Gear Solid 4 or Gears of War 2 are first person shooters.

2. Your grammar and spelling are terrible and I just can't take this thread seriously.

Locked.
