Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii: No kidding ourselves, what are you really looking forward to getting.

The Conduit: Seems fun and the dev team seems very passionate about the entire project. I don't play a lot of FPS's, but I've been waiting for some good ones on the Wii.

Madworld: Looks like great, zany, balls-to-the-walls action. Totally digging the B&W with touches of red look.

Tales of Symphonia 2: I loved the first ToS, so it's likely that I will love this one.

Animal Crossing: I've played the hell out of AC and AC: WW. I fully expect this game to devour my soul as well.

Kid Icarus: I love the Kid Icarus games and Kid Icarus on the NES is one of my top games ever.

I'm going to take time to read these carefully, and come up with some conclusion. What do you guys get from this?

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Basically what I get from this is that the 'hardcore' Wii owners like alternative hardcore titles. Things like De Blob, Fatal Frame and LKS are basically cult games - never really expected to sell blockbuster amounts but with reasonable critical acclaim (which I think they will get) and a fairly solid base of more devoted than usual fans.

Wow, that's pretty thoughtful.  I was just going to talk abou the Wii owners' aversion to brown. (attempt at humor)

Monster Hunter 3 - Anyone who knows me knows that I love MH to death.

Dead Rising - Loved the 360 version, should do okay with the RE4 engine.

Animal Crossing - Ten million sold, I have to be missing out on something.

Fatal Frame IV - Looking okay. But very scary :'(

The Conduit - It's on my list, but I'm not looking forward to it very much. It screams generic, but I'll wait for IGN's review.

Around the Network

Monster hunter 3- Played the PSP and PS2 versions of the game and with online play and motion controls it may be one of the best wii games ever if they implement the controls right.

Fatal Frame IV- Love the first 3 games so I am getting it next week.

Arc Rise Fantasia- One of the most good looking RPGs on the Wii and looks very promising.

Madworld- Love the black and white look and the gameplay.

Oboro Murasama- Looks good and I have never play Odin sphere before so I look forward to this game .

The Conduit: Anyone not interested in this game just ins't a gamer. Every month the graphics actually seem to get better (they only need to tweak some of the backgrounds now). All previews praise the hell out of the game. It'll set a new standard for how Wii games can and should look and (hopefully) will start a graphics arms race among more serious companies on the Wii. A lot rides on this game. Plus, who doesn't want an old-fashioned high-intensity First Person Shooter alien invasion with smooth Wiimote controls? I played Gears of War after Metroid Prime 3 and felt GoW's controls were a step backwards. This is finally our chance to get something like this that feels like a full step forward.

MadWorld: Made by the guys that made Viewtiful Joe? Win. Made by the guys that made Okami? Double win. Unique graphical style, gameplay, story, and over-the-top gory violence? I'd get carpal tunnel typing enough "wins" to describe that.

Fatal Frame IV: This will be my Eternal Darkness for the Wii until the actual sequel arrives (as strongly hinted by Denis Dyack). I love the horror genre and was disappointed to see everything from Alone in the Dark to Obscure to Escape from Bug Island fail so miserably.

Disaster: Day of Crisis: Just sounds awesome. Like Nintendo turning over a new leaf with it. Making serious games for serious gamers that are actually story-driven and modern rather than science-fiction (Metroid) or ye olde fantasy (Zelda).

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Oh come on, if even the PS2 team is pulling off feats no one expected on that thing, the Wii version is sure to kick some serious ass. The latest video footage is actually pretty good. Plus, we'll finally have the light-sabre, force-push powers in our hands!

Runners Up:

Dead Rising:  Will likely get it, but would like to see a bit more improvements and a review first.
Castlevania: Judgement:  Looks like it's coming together pretty well, but need more info.
Deadly Creatures: Just a cool concept.
Monster Lab: Customizable beasties with online battles.
Spore: Monster Lab times a thousand sans multiplayer. Only reason it's not one of my top five is because the released information is too un-informing.
Sadness: Still holding out a bit of hope for this Wii Duke Nukem Forever.
Project HAMMER: I still want it revived because it just looked like a lot of fun.

Damn, there's a lot of stuff coming to the Wii that looks good.

Now talk about WiiWare games!!
World of goo

Lostwinds 2
de la muarte

sun tan lotion

get this stick of my head!!
etc.

The Conduit - I love FPSes and this one looks like my next Halo.
MadWorld - Ultra-violent and stylish, like No More Heroes
Dead Rising: CtyD - Zombies + RE4 engine = win
Guitar Hero IV - More of a good thing. I need a second guitar!

EDIT

I also want to pick up Gyrostarr for WiiWare because I love futuristic racers.

Wario Land: Shake - Looks gorgeous and I love 2D platformers.
Legend of Sayuki - I'm really hoping this is good. It's a 2D side-scrolling shooter.
Ferrari Challenge - The Wii needs a good realistic racer, I'm hoping this is it.
Neopets Puzzle Adventure - If it's half as good as Puzzle Quest I'll be very happy.
Skate It - A balance board skateboard game doesn't really need any explanation.
