Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The hardest time to be a Nintendo fanboy was....

I never had a hard time, here Nintendo always had been the dominat force.

when i played GTA3 for the first time... I still loved my cube, of course, but GTA3 really changed my perspective on gaming and made me wish that the cube was taken more seriously by developers last generation.

Outside of Capcom and RE4, most devs really had the same perspective as consumers--that the cube was basically only for children. Its too bad because they really could've taken advantage of what was then top-notch hardware.

It all started in the N64 days, I didn't suffered with Genesis because all my friends had Snes. But with N64 was different. I met tons of people who were never interested in gaming before until then, saying the N64 was for kids and the big deal was the PS, just because of all the ingame videos it had and N64 didn't because of storage capacity. Sometimes I think the now called "hardcore gamers" (graphics first gameplay second) were born with the PS.

I didn't suffered because for me N64 had better games than PS, those days, the best moments in my videogame life were playing N64, Goldeneye, Ocarina, Mario 64, Mario Kart, ISSS 64, Perfect Dark, Conker...

But then, on the GameCube era, looking the small D-Pad on the controller, the strange buttons that would make it difficult for fighting games, the lack of support, and the transformation of mature Link to Kiddie Link were a real letdown to me. I didn't bought any console on that generation.

I was too young to understand the bad things of the N64 era andall the PS dominance news, but during the mid-late lifetime of the GCube, things were bad. It seemed as if Nintendo wasn't doing anything right and there was a stint of years, just waiting for Twilight Princess to come out. The PS2 was everywhere (TV shows, bragging friends) and I got every system, but got the Xbox and PS2 late.

It is still hard now with long stints without "hardcore" (ugh...) game announcements and shovelware the likes of which I have NEVER seen on Nintendo systems. Add to the fact Day of Reckoning 2 was the last good wrestling game I've played....rough times. I have the feeling Ninty won't show squat at E3 either, just Wii Fit sales. I keep imagining the worst case scenarios.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Well, i was pretty much punished for betraying Nintendo and buying a XBOX360. 7 times it RROD. The Gamecube announcement wasn't exactly a highlight either.

I have never disliked Nintendo. Even though they're first party games were few and far between in the N64 days. All of their first party games were excellent. I'd say I was the least interested in Nintendo during the Gamecube era, but that's mainly because I never owned a GBA. I really liked my Gamecube though. It's hard to see the amount of crappy title being released on the Wii now. Finally when Nintendo is back on top, third parties are bringing them down.

Nearly everyone is saying it was the Gamecube days, but I remember having a lot of fun with the console. I had tons of fun playing Metroid Prime, SSB Melee, Mario Sunshine, Phantasy Star 1 and 2, Freedom Fighters, Madden, Timesplitters, NHL Hits, Baulder's Gate, Eternal Darkness, Pikmin, etc....

There were so may great games, that I feel it was a great time to own a Nintendo console.

On the other hand, I wasn't involved with online gaming communities like I am now, so I probably avoided a lot of the hate without even relising it.

For me, the hardest time being a Nintendo fan was seeing the first videos for people playing the "Revolution", and knowing that it was over a year away before I would get to play it.

Yeah, even I lost hope at that point.  I didn't get it back until E3 '06, what an incredible show.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)

Gamecube era. I thought all the games sucked, the controller was crap (especially b & z buttons, they wear out so quickly & then it's hard to press them), & we didn't even get PES. I had to buy a PS2 solely to play PES. But other than PES all other PS2 games i played were either buggy or terrible. Now that Wii games are great, the controller rocks, & PES is on a nintendo console all has been restored

Now is a pretty bad time to be a Nintendo fanboy, too. I know the sales are through the roof, but the game lineup is a crapfest. People can be just like oh, casuals are mostly buying Wii, which is true, and then you're left with no arguments : (

The Gamecube was probably worse, though.
