Forums - Gaming Discussion - Eurogamer: Unreal Tournament III performance 360 > PS3

Almost two years on from Gears of War, it's no surprise to see how well the 360 handles Unreal Tournament III. So capable is Unreal Engine 3 at this stage, the console copes admirably even when chaos is absolutely raging on all sides - at least on the majority of occasions. There are a few slowdown hiccups on now and then, and is some very minor screen-tearing during cut-scenes. But there's absolutely no texture pop-in to speak of, and a wonderful array of lavishly detailed environments to explore unfettered - something the PS3 struggled with even when you installed the game to the hard disk.

Well maybe this means that the UE3 doesn't run very well on the PS3

360 us basically a PC on the inside so it is easy for a formally PC only developer to develop for.

This isn't so surprising, as it came out so much later, but it's a prime example of how the 360 is still capable of being graphically competitive.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

This.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

yea it is more than likely due to longer development time, but when a game comes out later on PS3 and it's better many people say they are using the PS3's power.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

well it is very cool considering that though the 360 being a pc as some say it does use a powerpc family cpu and not x86 as unreal was originaly designed for no small trick, also it points to the lack of mac games back in the power pc era as companies not seeing potential sales and not dificulty of development.

360 hardware has alot more in common with the last generation of macintosh hardware than it does with other pc makers
