I must admit, I'm not the biggest Hideo Kojima fan. I like Metal Gear, mostly because of the characters and the cutscenes. Except for Rising, which I enjoyed from beginning to end. Policenauts was a good Visual Novel, even if a bit rushed after Disc 1. Death Stranding has amazing cinematics and so-so gameplay in my opinion.

But... I'm really looking forward to OD. It's a new horror game from Kojima, announced back on TGA 2023. According to him, this is "A horror game. But also a movie. But also a brand new experience." That got me really intrigued.

However, after one and a half year, no news about this game were shared. I though Kojima were going to tell some news at TGA 2024 or Summer Game Fest, but he was too busy with Death Stranding 2 apparently.

So... Are we gonna need to wait longer?

Kojima said OD scanning and filming was suspended due to the SAG strike. Casting was also suspended for Physint due to the strike. The strike has only recently ended so it may be a while before we see anything about OD, especially since Kojima heavily uses mocap and all that sort of stuff and OD is probably early enough in development for the strike to have caused a pause to a large part of the project.

Both these things have been paused since at least December 2024 and work should resume now.

Kojima always shows something at TGA, do you think we may see an update on this?

Strange. I never heard of it and I thought he was going full power into Physint.

Mmmh, didn't the project funds got axed by Xbox in their latest "budget cuts" to employees, games, contracts, etc ?
