What type of console will Nintendo release next?

A more powerful Switch 2 5 55.56%

VR hybrid portable home console 0 0%

Something else 1 11.11%

The Switch 2 has been out for over a week already, so it's about time to start speculating about its successor.

Do you think Nintendo will continue with the Switch line and just make a Switch 3? Or could we finally see a fully "mainstream" VR device? I imagine Zelda and Metroid in VR would be amazing, but many of their other franchises would be more difficult to translate into VR. Maybe it will be a triple console (Docked, portable, and VR)?

If they continue with the hybrid model, will the screen size increase even further? To me it seems like the Switch 2 screen is already nearing the upper limits of screen size for a handheld gaming device, so I don't see the screen getting much bigger.

Anyway, does anyone else think it's ridiculous this topic hasn't been made yet?

I really wish Nintendo to join the VR market, but I can't see it happening anytime soon.

wait a minute… aren’t you the guy from the thread about whether NSW is a handheld (or whatever that thing was)? Also, I’m thinking Nintendo will partner with Sony to finally release the fabled Nintendo PlayStation. (You know? The console that ended up becoming the Phillips-CDi.)

Lol. Yeah I was in that thread arguing with someone by the name of Hardstuck. It was my first encounter with them and didn't realize it would be a waste of time. They were arguing that the PSP was as much of a hybrid as a Switch was, and I disagreed. It was a good time.

I think that certain franchise will be amazing in VR if/when they decide to go that route. I don't see what else they could add to the next switch if it's not VR, so that's the only reason I could see them doing it for the Switch 3.

Damn, when we could get DS, 3DS and Wii U on the NSO service!

And developers could have optional Game Pad features and gameplay like the Wii U had, only the entire console won't be built around it (again, optional).

Lite would likely be before that if I were to guess.
