Forums - Gaming - MindsEye: A potential candidate for worst game of the year?

MindsEye is a game that a lot of people were talking about, but not only because of the hype: Some of them were worried this game would be a big mess. And they may be right.

I was very skeptical about the "new GTA" title from Build a Rocket Boy myself, since the gameplay was not very promising, and almost all the trailer were only about cutscenes and plot. Then, some days ago a couple of people got access to an early version of the game, and the reception made the Devs ask them to wait for a day one patch before playing it.

June 11, the day of the release, and the Steam version got a lot of negative reviews. Bad optmization, uninteresting gameplay, and overall a poor experience. It didn't took long for people to compare it to old games.

There's no Metascore for it yet, but mostly reviews are giving this game a below 50 score. IGN gave it a 4.

Now, I'm about to try this game myself, but... I'm not even sure if my PC will be able to handle it, since I have a above average RIG, and it seems to be a case of poor optized game. Anyway, I'll update it later.

I think it has all the numbers to win the "biggest disappointment of the year" prize, or it would if there had been a lot of people waiting for it.

But worst game of the year? I don't think it's that much broken to earn it.

In any case, we'll see. There's still the second half of the year with many more high profile titles coming (if they're not delayed).

I tested the game.

Welp, no can do.

Probably because I don't have an SSD yet, game is filled with lag and slowdowns even on Low settings. But... It didn't get me interested. Looks like a very generic GTA-like game set on future.

Well, at least you tried. I don't think the game is worth the effort right now.

After watching the summary of a playthrough and some gameplay vids, I fully expect this game to be on many "Top 10 Worst games of 2025" at the end of the year.
